Default Airbus A380 a 7 Hrs flying REVIEW

Hello Bhpians.

Yes you just read it right !!. When we have so many reviews about cars and ownership report in our community, how can we ever miss out on a review about the worlds largest passenger aircraft.... the Airbus A380.

So here i am trying to put across a small review of my first experience aboard the Airbus A380 from Narita to Singapore which lasted for a little over 7hrs..

Well it was all official, one fine day when my manager asked me to get ready to fly down to tokyo for business. I had never been to Japan before so i was quiet a lot excited but the excitement even got better when my travel agent handed over the travel itenary to me ...Gosh did i see the Airbus A380 booked for me to fly back.

I knew that SQ airline were flying A380's to Sydney and London from singapore but never knew that they were introducing the A380 in the narita, singapore sector starting May 20th onwards. ( The 1st A380 flight to fly within Asia ).

My experience with the A380 was just great. I always felt that takoffs and landing would be very different compared to the Boeing 747's but the A380 just proved me wrong. Infact the takoffs and landings we much smoother and better. The plane really handles airpockets and you hardly feel the turbulence ..

Couple of points which i felt good about the A380.

1) Seats have been arranged and positioned better

2) Larger LCD display. watching movies are more fun. More clear and chrispy.

3) USB port available on all seats to connect flash drives and an inbuilt computer application allows one to read from the flash drivemaking it easy to watch photo's or even compose ppt's

4) Special neon lights under the LCD screen which is placed accurately to read books and magazines

5) Ethernet port connectivity also provided for every passenger, though i am not sure if internet is available...never saw anyone use the ports..

6) More collection of movies available onboard

Well i will do the pics do the talking from here onwards..enjoy !!

Wow Jango. You are probably the first bhp'ian to fly aboard the A380. Congrats.

The LCD screens are huge. With this aircraft, I'm sure air travel wouldn't be a sore experience.

No pics of the suites ? And the first class seats and business class seats ?

Right now, is the whole aeroplane devoted to seating ? No stuff like stores, casinos, restaurants, bars, etc ?

Suits,Casinos & Bars were on display to prove the potential for the customers. All SIA(Singapore airlines) planes are of similar configuration consisting First class, Business & Economy, which is pretty conventional.Upper deck is First class & Economy Lower deck has Business and Economy.

Just wait for Ethihad & Emirates birds to fly. You can expect a small bar and Massage parlour etc in that.

Nice experience Jango,

There will be very few airports in India to handle the landing and the sudden rush of passengers that will come out of this plane.

Ya Bangalore is ready for A380 but then only International flights to and fro BIAL can use A380 as it is latest airport.
We cannot use A380 for domestic use. I heard from Malya when A380 was launched (in some newspaper). If you can run domestic flights on demanding sectors with A380 in India it will take care of lots of air congesion as well as better business opportunity.
Imagine A380 carrying 550 passengers from bangalore to Delhi or Kolkata. It is like 3 A320 or 737s together.

But the airports should be able to handle Mass transit of 550 passengers with bigger/better logistics inside airport like multiple prepaid taxi booth, bigger/faster luggage pickup, quick exits etc.

The other day I returned from kolkata I had to stand for 30min to collect 3 bags at the conveyer at HAL airport. Such poor Logistics Management cannot work with A380 in india.
