Bumping a old thread.

Any updates on the road conditions currently. Plan to go to the Bheemeshwari fishing camp on Christmas day.

Kanakpura road is excellent. But the road from Kanakpura main road to Bheemeshwari of around 10kms is pathetic. The police checkpost personnel themself warned us that road is bad from thereon.

Rather better place to visit is Thattakere which is 12 kms off Harohalli on Kanakpura road.

Now that its raining for few days, would it make sense to do a day trip to Mekadatu & Chunchi falls in this season? How is the road conditions?

Relatives are around for summer vacation, so thought of taking them out to this place to enjoy some nice view and falls.

May be a dumb question, is it possible to take bath in Chunchi falls if it is safe?

We were there three weeks back.
Roads are good throughout out. River at the base has enough water for fun. Safe for kids as well.
We did not go to the top; neither to chunchi falls. So, cant comment on that.

Could you please share which route you took ? I see that kanakpura bhimeshari road is reported as bad. Also could you please share bit more detail about the trip like driving time, any good places en route for eating etc. thanks for sharing.

Thanks Sanjay. So it looks like good to go to Mekadatu then. Are the waters clean enough reasonably or dirty? When you went was it crowded ?

Been to Sangam, Mekedatu and Chunchi falls very recently i.e. last Saturday and water seems to be sufficient for someone to enjoy but clear and blue sky can be an issue as it was very hot. Roads are good however only problem is 2 lanes NH 948 wherein I had faced lots of traffic (Of cars, tractors, trucks) while returning and road was completely dark. People need to maintain patience and drive carefully.

How is the road to Chunchi once you get off SH948? Could you post a gmaps link of route taken? Thanks

While coming back from Sangam-Mekedatu, I took right turn at forest department gate (There is only one gate so no confusion and approx. 8 KMs from Sangam parking) and from there it is around 6-7 KMs. Road is not in good condition except for 1-2 KMs. You need to park your vehicle and from there you need to walk approx. 1 KM to reach the falls even though locals will tell that it is only 0.5 KM. I had visited this place while coming back (around 4 PM) so walk was pleasant for me otherwise carry protection from sun.

I have not followed any gmaps for this trip as I was aware of the route. And also, gmaps shows a longer route. For Sangam, please reach to Kanakpura first and from there you can take Kanakpura-Sangam route. Also for any confusion, take help from locals there, they are extremely helpful.

Regards,
Ghosh
