While other cities are boasting about themselves and reeling with over-urbanisation, Kolkata is silently transforming into a better place with Cleaner Roads and a Dash of Modernity.

This Photoblog aims to demonstrate how the street scene is reminiscent of the old world charm that u cannot exterminate.

Nice pictures. but in the Chowrinjee and Chetla pictures - it's so scary to see the people cross bindass.

superb pics and great captions. Never stayed in calcutta for long but have visited the place several times on my way home and even otherwise. Pics make me nostalgic. No other city makes me feel at home as this one. Unlike other metros it has a great respect for the value of money. One can afford a taxi(amby) in Cal at the price of autos elsewhere. All this combined with great bengali cuisine and the old world charm are the typical characterstic of calcutta. Only painful aspect is the humid weather which is the case with any port city. thanks for bringing back the memories.

And many many Yellow cabs (can I say that!!!) Ambis. Whats Tata doing in there? No indicas for cab?
