Default A YetiHoliday® - A surprise visit to TheOne®

That is correct. That's where I was for the weekend. Flew there on Friday and left from there on Monday.

Yes, just like that.

Crazy? Impulsive? 36 hours travel for 48 hours in Germany? Is there anyone here who thinks it was not worth it?

It's all part of living life, Yeti size isn't it?

The travel-story that ensues will tell you how the Yeti® hopped into Germany & spent a wonderful weekend with TheOne®.

I promise not to take too long with this one.

I hope you enjoy it.

You are correct - a direct flight to FRA is 9 hours. However...

1) The flight was not direct.
2) She does not live in Frankfurt

Hi Sam,
At last you have completed that story of Don, Father, Strawberry and Rajanikant just two hours back.
Now, please, do not keep us waited.
Now, pour the details and of course, thepics.

Nice. Another one from Sam.

Its really nice to read that you travelled so far for just a weekend but then its worth spending that time with theOne you love. What matters is quality time and as with this example, true love knows no boundaries. God Bless you and theOne with tons of happiness and togetherness (and lots of baby Yeti's ) .

Most of us wouldnt do this sorta thing but again, Yeti's are rare creatures.

Default YetiBlog® - 18th July 2008

I'm at Sahar Airport. I have a big bag but it weighs nothing. I've got 3 teeshirts and some underwear in there.

She thinks I'm sleeping at home. I chatted with her, pretended to be really sleepy, slam dunked 5 clothes into this bag and left for the airport.

-------------------------------------------------------

When I got my ticket I realised I was going to need help on this one. What if TheOne® had left for the weekend, gone to her hometown? What if she had already made some other plans and I was going to upset them?

All I really wanted was to hop in and surprise the living daylights out of her.

Asking Navin for help was a super thing to do. Navin (being navin) had cooked up a story that would have stood up to Judge and Jury and passed every lie detector on planet earth.

No, Jenny was in Heilbronn and she was pretty sure she was going to have dinner with Navin that friday evening. We had made sure of that.
I had also emailed her friends and family, making sure that any plan she would try to make would get shot down making sure she was at home.

I had also emailed some of our colleagues at the office and they were very thrilled. Jenny's boss P made up some story about a "meeting" with an important agency that he was going to pick up from Heilbronn station and she was to wait for them.

"But I have a dinner meeting with Navin at 7!" she protested. Heh heh. What did she know...

This was going to be fun.

------------------------------------------------

It's 6am. Touchdown in Dubai. Amazing Dubai, bustling no matter what time of the day (or night) it is. Citizens of the world walking around, heavily peppered by Arab men and women. Fake palm trees and carpet designed to look like sand and those strange looking UFOs in the ceiling.

I haven't got any sleep, but have managed to catch up on a lot of new music.

Next stop - Frankfurt Airport.

I sleep for a bit on the flight to Frankfurt. The plane halts for an all familiar touchdown. I'm back in Frankfurt.
I'm a mixture of tired and sleepy and still have not taken my camera out. Immigration is full and strangely only 3 counters are working.

The lady at the counter doesn't even check the country of origin. One quick look at the multiple German stamps and she thunks another one with a smile and a Danke.
I'm back in Germany.

I quickly take the skytrain to Terminal 1 and a short walk to the Frankfurt Flughafen Bahnhof. I need to take an S Bahn to get to the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof.
I have an ICE(Intercity) to catch from the Hauptbahnhof to Mannheim, where I will have to change, to take an RE (Regional) to Heilbronn. Counting the first Skytrain, that's 4 trains already. It's a good thing I like trains, lol.

I'm on BB messenger live with P and K, my friends from the office. P has offered kindly to pick me up once I am there. If all goes well, I should be at Heilbronn at 16.51.
Meanwhile I am also messaging and emailing Jenny, making her believe I am on my way to Pune and then Aurangabad for a sales conference.

I am at the station, well in time. I walk around and see a model train set. I whip out my camera, taking a few pictures for Gautam.

The train is on time (of course!) and I find my seat with little difficulty. I am on my way to Mannheim.

Aha! Finally I've managed to catch a YetiHoliday/Blog in real time! Have read all the previous ones after they were over.
So in Indian news channel lingo, BREAKING NEWS: "Even as we speak, The Yeti is putting finger to keyboard for the next part in Yet-another bestselling YetiHoliday. Its over to the Yeti now!"

Sam, to be frank, I was expecting something like this right from June. Wondering how it took so long !! All blames to the hectic work schedules ! I bet even 10% of the members are not aware of this new thread. Long live Yeti®
