Default Jim Corbett & Naukuchiatal

This is my first travelogue. So bear with me.

On 12th August, I suddenly realized that I had not taken a holiday for quite sometime and must use this long weekend for the same purpose. On speaking to a couple of travel agencies, I realized that I had woken up too late. However, I did finally get bookings in Jim Corbett & Naukuchiatal (2 nights each). I was not too keen on JC as I had been there at least 5 times. Since I could not get any booking on 15th & 16th anywhere else, I just decided to go with the flow.

I left my home at 6 am on 15th. I experienced a major traffic jam on the Meherauli Road. So had to turn and hit the expressway. It was not a good start. I experienced another jam on my way to JC. It took me nearly an hour to clear. Thanks mainly to indiscipline & double lane driving by Delhiwallas. Just before we reached the resort at JC, there way another jam. This time it was because the stream was over flowing. The amount of water was one wheel deep with strong force. People were scared to cross it. Only the bus guys had the courage to cross it. I did too as I was in my safari. It was raining cats & dogs ever since I left my house on 15th morning.

On 16th afternoon I decided to take the Safari into JC. This turned into a real adventure. One of the small cross-over bridges had been swept away by the stream. You can imagine the force of the water. The adventure/excitement started when all the Gypsy’s decided to cross the stream.

I will attached the videos in the next post.

this is a usual scene on Jim Corbett road during Monsoon and rains. Some times they even close the road because of that

I am extremely sorry guys. I had to rush for a meeting yesterday. I did not mean to keep all of you hanging.

Here is the link to the first video.

Yes the stream was over flowing. It had strong current. This was my first time hence, I guess was over cautious. When I crossed it I felt like a KING and proud that I had gone for a Safari.

The road to Naukuchiatal was not bad. I had to cross a over flowing river. This time I saw a white maruti 800 that was swept away. Two tractors were trying to pull it out.

Other then the over flowing river I came across two land slides. The local authorities are quite efficient. They got it cleared in half an hour. I saw many buldozers on stand by on the way up.

This is where it happened. On my way to Naukuchiatal.
