Surprising - this apperas to the only mention of the roads in East Coast. Aren't there great drives on NH5 - especially near Vizag?

Now that is indeed breathtaking! Surely will get every petrolhead dreaming on how his drive would perform here .......

I sort of went back in time and -

a. The G(rand) S(outhern) T(runk) road, from Chennai to Southern end, had fabulous stretches - combination of NH 45 & NH 7 - especially between Tirunelveli and Nagercoil. In the peak of summer the road used to shimmer like water ... (Is there still a NH 45B or has it been renamed?)

b. Tenkasi to Punalur ('mera sapon ki rani kab ayegi thu ....' type of road)

c. NH4 - Chittoor to Kancheepuram stretch - the tree lined two lane road from Chennai to Bangalore has, alas, disappeared ....

I think Trichy-Madurai is 45B. Trichy-Dindigul 4L is still called 45. Vikravandi-Kumbakonam is 45C.

I just saw the map and it says some portions of ECR is called 45A! (Villupuram-Pondicherry-Tharangambadi). Of course Villupuram-Pondi is not ECR.

5 Siliguri to Kalimpong 130 Km

"meander through tea estates" "quieter, less crowded"

10 Munnar to Thekkady 105 Km

"manna from heaven" "lovely corners, spirited straights, jungles, tea gardens" "mist hanging lightly"
Dear HVK sir

I think they should have consulted the guru HVK before the ranking.

Adding the Chalakuddy to Valparai- make my wishlist.

Sir. Would be interested to know your favorites and in order if possible.
Cheers

Well to this list will add the drive as below not in any order

Dindivanam to Pondy- super good roads great speed and marvelous stretch.

between dindivanam to Coimbatore. Good roads and scenic too . Only irritant is the vehicles seen on the worng side (with Hi-beam on)

The ECR is good rather extremely great in few stretches the wind in your hair makes you go crazy happy. some stretches the traffic makes you go crazy.

Manipal to Agumbe- not for the road the scenic beauty is worth the effort.

Cheers
Prasad
