800 kms from Dellhi to Varanasi, a good drive except that since we got delayed ex-Delhi, we got trapped in traffic jams on the Delhi-Agra route outside Mathura, Sikandra and Agra. If you start early, I guess you can see the evening aartis in the temples of Banaras. The caveat of course being the possible traffic jams outside Allahabad which does not have a bypass yet.

The Chennai meet and snacks, or was it dinner.. was so disoriented with some many miles crunched and lack of sleep.

Fly-away, Bangalore to Mumbai, the last lap. Got up at 3 am and somehow bundled into KVK's car on a cold 31 morning.... The shake was more due to my hand and lack of sleep than the vibrations

On day 5 we stopped at some place after vizag and had a good time to even find a hotel. We had to go into the city and had a tough time locating the hotel and just as we were about to return, we found the APTDC hotel (IIRC).

We had some of the 'not so good' food there -- of all days this was the worst food we had that night, and we went to the rooms to sleep. HVK checks the rooms and finds that flush is not working, hot water not coming and he asks the plumber to fix the flush. Luckily the hot water started in his room and after 10 minutes or so we could hear plumber working in his room -- well past midnight.

We quickly bolted our room -- lest the plumber come to our room also to fix the flush. That was the last thing we wanted.

Now every morning, HVK used to give us an SMS to wake up.. he he he.. and understandably it wasn't effective and on no day did we wake up from his SMS. So that night I asked him to give me a call instead and I will make sure that everyone wakes up at 3.00 am.

When the phone rang, believe me, all 3 of us (self, mjothi, hrag) were up in an instant -- simultaneously. That's how irritating & loud phone ring I had set for this trip.

Thats a good one! And seems like you never caught him in the act... I meant sleeping.

In above pics, notice the our HVK is at times tensed and at times relaxed. tension means we are behind schedule & things not working to plan. Relax means that we started at 3.00 in the morning .

Cheers,
The value that presence of such a happy soul add's to any trip is immeasurable! This is the kind of person who make a 'trip' and 'joyful trip'.

Happy-Jothi!

Here are some more pictures from the first few days:

These are the various markets that we saw on the way. As we were mostly on GQ, we saw very less of these.

Oh.. countless number of 'sign boards'...

And these are of the 'Chilka Lake'. This is where Kumar decided that we 'deserved' a break and we spent some 30 minutes at this place. Must say that the facilities at this place are just horrible -- for such a nice place.

We had people indulging in extra (or even extra-extra) curricular activities all over the place -- even in the parking lot. Some washing clothes and what not.

Each day started at around 3.00am, and ended close to mid-night.

And, most of you still appear clean-shaven in most pics. Kudos!

... For me it was the 'electric shaver' that did the trick. Comes in handy during travel :-)

Great observation.......

My crown needs attendance every 3/4 days, so when piping hot water "appeared" at the APTDC hotel at 12 midnight, it was too much of a temptation not to shave. Never know with HVK around when the next wake up call, bath / shave, food stop would come

Chilka Lake was a surprise, I thought it would have been preserved, it was an open toilet........... EVERYONE doing the act out in the open

Frankly, I did not expact a stop-over there, when HVK's call came to HRAG to turn off to the lake, it took us by surprise!!!!!! How can site-seeing be allowed on a tight run like this?

This is an epic journey and one of the best in the recent times here on t-bhp. Kudo's to all you chaps who did this journey and your spirits.

Also I think the mjothi title can be changed to Michael Jackson sounds more apt . Good one guys. Keep revving !!

Rumour has it that mjothi did the GQ in only 1 set of clothing -- including the inner wear .
