He's been to Europe many times, the past 2 years of course mainly in Germany lol, and I am sure that he will have a great time again this time. No way he can stay away from Europe anymore in this life.

Just kidding Jenny and we are helping manage the online profile of Lord of all Yeti's. We all know that Sam does his magic at work equally well and really happy for him.

As far as Indians working habits, i do agree and me too hate it. Right now on a strict plan to settle my work timings, making recession an excuse. Positive thinking in bad times

Oh dear girl, you have no idea in how many ways. Look for other YetiBlogs to understand some of them

EDit: Just realised I have no cable or card reader. Do you guys want a blog with no pictures for now? I'll wait for your reply. Meanwhile, here is the first post.

Default YetiBlog® - 21st April 2008

0130 -
Sam, Good Morning, rise and shine
Sam, Good Morning...
Don't you want to wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up (fade out)

For those confused - this is my morning alarm tone, sung with a lovely all-girl chorus.

Click. Snooze (5 mins). Or so I think.

0147 - I am fast asleep when the phone beeps. "Have left for the airport, see you soon"
Jesus, Mary and Joseph! I jump up and in one swift motion my feet have found the floor and I'm running into the toilet.
"You were supposed to leave at 2!" I sms my colleague. "Can you please pick me up?"

0200 - I'm running around. TheOne® has left notes everywhere in the house.
  • Shut the taps
  • Gas off
  • Geyser off
  • Windows closed
  • Garbage out
Ah the simple pleasures of a German wife.

She's made me a packing list too.
  • 4 shirts
  • 4 teeshirts
  • pants and jeans...
It's a long list. I scroll to the bottom
  • iPod + Headphones
  • and don't forget your passport.
I smile. This works a lot better than leaving "I love you" notes around the house. Means a lot more.

0205 - I've got a lot of luggage. I'm carrying mangoes as gifts for pete's sake. No, not that guy who makes diesel cars go faster. The other one, who's helping me pack.
It was a good thing I checked in online. The flight is at 0430 and ordinarily check-in would be at 0130.

0220 - The Indigo Marina cab is making good time. There's little or no traffic, thankfully. We'll be there, well within time.

0235 - We've just paid the cab. I place the bags on the sidewalk looking for a baggage-cart. I instinctively slap the breast pocket of my jacket.

My heart stops.

I've forgotten my passport!

I'M REALLY SORRY! I yell from the taxi as my colleague stands on the sidewalk at the airport, smoking a cigarette and shaking his head.

Crap. I've really done it now. The flight leaves at 0430 and it's already 0240. I really don't want to miss this flight.
---------------------------------------------------

Earlier the plan was to get to Frankfurt instead of Amsterdam. We wanted to spend the weekend at Bad Nauheim on the way back. Also we wanted to rent a Cabriolet and drive to Amsterdam. Why not?

I got a great deal on Emirates, to Frankfurt via Dubai. It was a short halt, maybe 2 hours at Dubai - and the price was great.

Later we changed our minds about taking the car to Amsterdam. It was colder than we thought it would be PLUS - there would be no driving for 3 days at Amsterdam!

I booked a KLM cityhopper (KLM's low-cost inter european air shuttle) flight from Frankfurt to Amsterdam. We would have a few extra hours at Frankfurt airport. Perhaps Jenny would be able to come there. Who knows?

---------------------------------------------

0248 - My Father is fast asleep and this is the 10th time I've tried the house phone and his mobile.

Ring Ring!
Finally a sleepy voice answers. I speak loudly and slowly. Time is the key here.

Papa!
Huh?
Papa, wake up!
Hmm?
Papa, I have forgotten my passport at home.
I can almost see him blinking slowly.
Papa, I am late and I'm returning home to get my passport, I need your help. I need you to take my keys, open my flat and you will find my passport in the wine rack in the living room.

He understands the urgency.

OK! Click!

Aap yahin ruko, gaadi ghumalo, I shout out at the cab guy, running inside the building as fast as I can. I reach the lift. It's on its way down. The door opens and the liftman hands me my passport.

Good old Dad!

0255 - Please jaldi chalao!
I call my colleague when I reach the domestic airport. He sounds a little tense.
I have already called Jenny, who has said nothing at that moment. Thank God!

This was a stupid thing to do. This is a tension we can do without. I hope we make it. I suppose the check-in will close at 0300.

0305 - We pull up, I fling the money at the cabbie shouting out my thanks and we run towards the gate in.
The Airport is surprisingly empty and so is the Baggage X-ray.

0315 - We're filling up immigration forms.

We made it!
