He could have so easily been surrounded, and his car separated from him at gunpoint, with peril to his life.

BT, and anyone else contemplating this, a word of advice from someone who knows: Keep off dark lonely roads in the zone west of Barhi (and more so, west of the Sone River) and east of Benaras, between 10 pm and 5 am.

Almost the same thing happen to me last sunday while I was coming back from Dharampuri to Krishnagiri. I was driving in the right lane. Suddenly I saw a Matador is coming in wrong side to my lane. I cant brake as a Alto was tailgating and cant go to left lane as there was another vehicle. But at God grace some how I had avoid the Matador. The left lane guy gave me space as he might have seen the Matador.

Warning Noted. By 10 pm I had reached Benaras. But mistakenly took the wrong turn and then again, detoured towards Mughalsarai Station on GT Road.

Yes they were surprised. Most of them (gatekeeper, parking attendants) thought I arrived from HYD.

Thats excellant travelogue, My family members are discussing with me to visit Varanasi in near future! I am figurring out best time which suits our requirement of less crowd and pleasant weather.
