Saw this one on my trip during the same time perriod too. We had gone to Dhanolti via Dehradun, and decided to return via Chamba-Rishikesh-Haridwar route. Man did I rue that decision as ~4 hours were wasted due to the traffic jam in/around Haridwar. And what caused that jam, maddening rush of people who'd come to take a dip in Ganges on 24th.

Good that we did not take this route. It hardly took us around 1 1/2 hours from Dehradun to Saharanpur. But what was there on 24th ? Any festival or any special pooja to Ganga? OR was it saturday and people were thronging for a dip in Ganga?

Liked the ghat road and the views, but the town (Mussoorie) doesn't look nice.

Does it snow in Mussoorie in winter?

Well mussoorie is called the queen of the hills.most of the people just visit the busy Mall road and say it isn't nice. But the real beauty is slightly away from the Mall road.Come over and i'll show you around. Its pretty beautiful.

Oh yes it snows. And it snows good.its not even motorable when it snows.and there are traffic jams throughout the 20 odd kms from dehradun to mussoorie when it snows.

Thanks for clarifying. When does it snow...i mean which part of the year (Dec/Jan/Feb). I can plan my official trip to this place during that time.

Well it snows anytime in dec/jan/feb.2 days of rain and it snows.
Its more of a better option for tourists from nearby areas as they come as soon as it snows.
If you want more permanent kind of snow you should visit Auli.about 8 hours drive from dehradun towards badrinath.there it snows amazingly well and also skying and other winter sports are conducted there.
