Its like a monastry. Karzok has the only GOMPA thats exclusively houses only female monks. Its slightly at the edge of the Village towards the lake itself.

HI Sha
Great trip blog!
Really enjoyed the photographs and write-up.
I have a question.. is it possible to drive from Manali to Leh / Srinagar to Leh in a Santro car? This is the first time in your blog I've seen a picture of a Santro anywhere on this route. Would it be easy to drive, without any major issues?
Thanks

Its not the machine, but one driving the machine that makes a difference. Sha has already mentioned it.

@Indizen, mate look around. Recently another member Lord Of Gondor did this circuit in his esteem. You can do it in your Santro easily if you are a careful driver without any major issues. And while doing so remember, dont be a Gama in the land of Lama.

Today I read another blog from a guy who's been to Ladakh in his Swift. So now I'm actually hopeful it can be done in a Santro. Or maybe GM Spark as well?
That blog is still ongoing and he hasn't covered the most difficult terrain as yet, so I dunno if there were any major issues with the small car.
And yes, I saw the other trip report - in the Esteem.
In a Santro, which route is easier : from Srinagar or Manali?

Do it from Manali as the access to both Baralacha La and Tanglangla is easier from this side plus the Zozila descent is anyday better than ascent from Sonamarg side. Do Manali-Leh-Srinagar.
