What's the real deal. If someone drives in on a Saturday, is it good enough to just go in and ask for an accommodation?

I was told that they are fully booked on all weekends till end september. They have just 20 rooms, I guess that is the reason. If you are lucky, and they have a cancellation, I guess you will get a room. Else there is the ITC hotel, but that is at least twice as expensive and not good value. Not good view either.

This is not good. All the rooms booked in Ekaant on all days including weekdays till September. I was hoping to get atleast 1 room for 1 night on a weekday.
Are there any other similarly priced decent hotel options in Lavasa??

Plenty of room on weekdays - it's just the weekends that are blocked. Drove down there today again, just for the heck of it, rain pelting down! And Ekaant is the place to stay - VFM and the views make it so.

Is the restaurant only for folks staying there or can anyone walk in. As there are no weekend rooms, I was planning a one day trip to that place and hence wondering whether we would get food in the restaurant there.

I am pretty sure that it is open to non residents, but I would give them a call and find out, and perhaps book a table. They have pretty narrow time windows for the service, so find those out as well. Also, they only do buffets that are not all that extensive in the number of things served. Good VFM of course, and great views if/when the clouds lift.
But for food, there is also an all American diner that is fully operational at the lakefront. With the usual extensive diner menu. Reasonably good food, good ambience.

And before anyone asks, the number to call them direct is 020 66757000. The bombay numbers are not well manned.

What all attractions are there at Lavasa.
Is it good for a 4-5 day vacation with family. I mean are there enough activities / places nearby for one to spend about 4-5 days there?

At this time, it is just a place for some quiet alone time in the Sahyadris. And to see how the future looks when it is under construction. It is not the place to go to if you want a buzz. Unless you get a buzz from just looking at the many waterfalls, which I do. For a family with kids that are used to the cities, two days, tops.
