I have a couple (mundu of course) here with me. Waiting for the summer to take them out and wear at home

Ever played cricket while wearing a mundu? I have and it is irritating to tuck it in after each ball. And quick singles are out of question, lest you need to retrieve the fallen halfway thru a run !!

Oh yes! All my teen years I played cricket wearing mundu. Not just me but most other players in our group too . Mundu folded up, and hawai slippers to go with it! But then our cricket was with the rubber ball, so no pads, guards etc.;

Getting back to something remotely connected with what Sam posted.

I had posted that the Brunton's boat yard is at Vypeen. It turns out (with a little help from dad), that Brunton's has two premises - the one at Fort Cochin was a work shop and office, where "floating repairs" and machinery was placed. The slip way (well, there were'nt any till late 1980s) and hull repairs / "dry docking" were at Vypeen, at the place I mentioned earlier. The company was sold by its original owners to some Coimbatore based Chettiars, and while owned by them, went into liquidation.

IIRC, the Indian Express Cochin edition used to have its press and office somewhere near Aspinwall (I think a part of the Aspinwall compound, see the google pages pic) at Fort Cochin.

Guys, I have just back from Tibet, the people over there are in a state of Panic, everyone is running scared with fear of the unknown, the hills are filled with the sound of laughter and some werid noises that sound like " Ha Ha mundu, Ha Ha" started talking abt Kerla and then all they talk about is Mundu Ha ha" This is scarring the *hit out of everyone there. They might stop the tourists coming in. The US secret service is sending Navy seals in to figure out the cause.

As per rumors The Yeti was known to exist but now a laughing yeti, that too over Mundu is freaking the government and the Chinese also are looking to call the Dalai Lama and call a truce., well I am ROFLMO and cant type any more

I often feel out of place wearing a vesti in Chennai, these days, with nearly all Indian men wearing trousers only, so I know how you feel.

In Kerala though, as in this thread, the mundu is putting up a much better fight against the pernicious British Trouser and the infiltrating American Pant

Poor Yeti...Not even in his wildest dreams would have thought that his thread would be hijacked big time by the Mundu Mafia.

Anyways while we are at it; Mundu - Wikipedia

Is Mundu Instant Messenger a "Mundu Mallus" venture?

I'll have to check with our Mundu wearing mods whether it would be a useful thread.

Sam seems to be at Rajkot. And if thats Rajkot in Gujarat, then he must be enjoying Kathiyawadi meals - Bajari Rotla, Kadhi, Khichadi et al

And if he had been to interior villages near Rajkot, then he'll post pics of "Choyni" the way he did for "Mundu"
