Every time I read a Ladakh/Leh travelogue, I feel restless and depressed that I havent been there.

Every time I read HVKs travel details, I feel tired just by reading them. So much endurance and so much planning. The way I like it.

Ahem, now plans are afoot for a bunch of us to visit Our Nations Crown Jewel sometime next year. Will SURELY need all of your inputs then. Especially, HVKs GPS maps he has collected.

Amazing trip guys. It looks really tiresome, but just like how when a garment is washed and twisted it becomes clean, same way these tiresome travels will refresh our mind and body. Nice.

Oh yes. I certainly agree with HVK.
Two HPTDC hotels we stayed, Keylong and Kaza were excellent in terms of all the above mentioned criteria.

Lalu, I am done with day12. Will wait for your Day13 story.

Check some macros. These were taken during our dangerous trek in Chitkul.

@Rudra ji - which size for the picture is good? 1st or 2nd??

The remaining parts of the trip yet to be logged are

Day 13, September 24, 2009 Kaaza - Sangla
Day 14, September 25, 2009 Sangla - Chitkul - Sangla - Shimla - Ambala (12PM)
Day 15, September 26, 2009 Ambala(12PM) - Delhi - Jaipur - Udaipur - Ahmedabad - Surat (12PM)
Day 16, September 27, 2009 Surat(12PM) - Mumbai (4.30AM HVK, 7AM Glenn).

From Sangla at 12:15 on Day 14 till Mumbai at 4.30AM on Day 16, HVK had a continuous run. HVK thus reached Mumbai at 4.30AM, only delayed by 2 hours from the initial plan of 2.30AM. What an execution of a 7300KM, 16 day run with precision - well that's HVK's style for you .

Till we are back again, Happy Diwali guys

Hey LaluKS, Nice to hear that you are going on another trip, hopefully that too would be coming in as a travelogue. Just imagine, having to do three seperate threads of travel, 1-Leh,2 -Taj etc and 3-Unknown location. Though i envy you, wish you all the very best, drive safe!

Both are the same size. You should go for this size for sure.

I can see them clearly.

moral of the story guys, is, that if you want to see snow- avoid travelling with me. we've had proper snow on all the sections of the trip that i've decided to skip [with the exception of baralachala, which ofcourse we had to breeze past.
when will I get to see such snow?! and maybe some tigers and leapords while we're at it? coming to think of it... with my luck, i wonder if i'll get too see a snow leapord in my lifetime?!

Hey, Doc, you spent the maximum time in Leh, and breezed through all the hotels there.

Why not a directory of Best Restaurants in Leh, or something like that?

That's still a helluva lot of kms for one day—great going I must say.

And all these threads on Leh-Ladakh are a real dampener!! They are literally forcing me to close this laptop, run away from office and start off for the mountains myself.

But work beckons... and forces me to plod on.

You are luckier than we are - you are approximately 3,000 kms closer to Ladakh (excluding the distance to and fro Delhi, ex-Bombay)!
