Hi Sam, N_C

Congratulations for your successful completion of the Mumbai-Delhi drive on the nano, this thread is a great unifier for the forum.
it kept the entire forum active and tuned to this event.

What will happen to the Nano as both of you seems to fly back.

Default Bombay-Delhi in a Nano - Reboot!

2nd October 2009 - 10.30pm

Somehow I have a feeling we should have left today. I have the day off, but I've been busy with stuff at home that needs to be done.

I've been shopping earlier, buying chocolates and chips and biscuits and what-nots for the journey. Sometimes after driving for hours, all it takes is a chilled bottle of Dukes Lemonade and a bag of chips to make it all worthwhile. I know this.

Gautam cannot leave today, that much is certain. However in order to save time and make it convenient, he's decided to spend the night in the guest room at my place.

I'll probably be asleep, Jenny will let you in.

High hopes. I'm very much awake by the time he comes.

We chat for a bit and decide that it is best to fill up the tank now, rather than start looking for a petrol station at 4.30 in the morning. We leave for a quick drive to the petrol pump and fill the Nano up. Safer.
As suspected by NC, some of the tyres are over-inflated making the car bouncier than it is. We fill up 28 in the front and 30 in the rear.

Back home, by the time we hit the sack it is almost midnight.

The alarm is set for 4am - 4 hours sleep will certainly be tough.

Good night.
Nice videos there though the Microphone is picking up a lot of noise.

From the first impressions, the summary looks like this.

Its quite spacious and better than an RS, the Mismatch in tyre size is causing some handling problems, the Brake and Accelerator pedals are awkwardly positioned which takes a bit of getting used to.

In the video NC says the actual speed is less than 45 and the speedo is showing 65. You mean to say you confirmed later that the speedometer was okie as a matter of fact.

This would mean that It feels less faster than it is going actually is that right Sam / NC

And hey the petrol pump guys stopped working as soon as they saw one at their pump. A show stopper wherever it goes.

You must have answered a lot of repeat questions..Gaadi kaisa hai, Mileage kitna hai, Kaisa chaltha hai etc etc.

Waiting for more.

Default Bombay-Delhi in a Nano - Reboot!

4.55am - Much as we wanted to, there was no way we could have left at 4.30.

The good thing is that had we tried to leave at 5, we would have left at 5.30 so...

Main chalayega. Says NC. So far he has only driven the car for 10 or 15 minutes- to the petrol pump and back.

It is still dark. We take the customary photo and our adventure begins.

^^ Pardon my ignorance, but what is that tiny black thingy at top right hand side corner where the wind shield and roof meet? It looks like a microphone.

Yes it is a microphone. Part of the Bluetooth Hands-free kit.

And here's part 3 of the videos. Enjoy.

Default Bombay-Delhi in a Nano - Reboot!

07.30am - I have been driving from that Dahisar petrol pump almost to Vapi. We've crossed 2 toll nakas and some half decent roads. Nothing great really. Once we reach the Gujarat Border, the roads get smooth and beautiful.

In fact the road is strikingly good.

NC has made some interesting videos, we're listening to music and discussing the car. A couple of quick review vids and some nice tracks later it is time to refuel at Vapi.

We've done about 137 kms so far. Here is a video discussing that. Part 4 of the journey.
