Hats off to you guys. Its very true India is not Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai or many other big cities. Its the small villages and the small townships in between that will make a true India, which will make Nano (hopefully) most popular, I suppose a lot of companies around the world realize this and are now trying to put a car to compete Nano (Nissan-Bajaj venture)

Sam , NC,

honest question, how much does the Car cost ON ROAD in Mumbai?
Is the 250000 that you mention include all the music gadgets that you installed in car?

The version we drove (Aircon + 2 Power windows) will cost about 1.85 ex showroom in mumbai. Add to that RTO registration, tax, insurance and it will cost about 2.10 or 2.12 in mumbai.

We paid extra for it.

Sam and Gautam,
Belated congrats. Somehow missed this. But I got to read it all and one go so that was the plus side of it. Three hours to read all the 37 pages. Great write up, videos and photos.

OK, I loose!

An excellent report/ travelogue.

And, I wholeheartedly agree that India is indeed the places between Bombay and Delhi! The sheer awareness level of Nano tells us one thing clearly - India is not a third world developing country anymore. Everyone, the people from Metropolitan cities, non metros, A,B,C,D category towns, villages, even non-villages are aware that there is a car they can buy. To me, that's not just about a car, it's about wealth which we Indian have started to believe in. Shunning ages of abstinence wisdom!

There can be nothing better than the Nano to exemplify the saying - "No one can stop an Idea whose time has come!"

I havent waited for anything as much as I have to read this completely exciting travelouge. Hats off to both of you for making this journey happen.

Also to inform you that having being motivated by this thread, I am planning a Mumbai-Nathdwara trip in my i10 in first week of December 2009.

Thanks

Sam,

The last piece was fantastic. India is not Bombay/Delhi/Bangalore but in between. And the mere fact that it is affordable has raised the curiosity levels to a much higher plane. For what ever its worth, Tata has done a great job.

And they did a smart thing by giving you one, drive through India and report back at a fraction of the publicity cost.. of them holding road shows..

Great story done up very nicely.

I have seen the ad, but let me check again if I am in it. I don't think so.

A great job in making the car. They did not give me one, I bought one out of my marketing budget spend.
I bought it because I wanted to make a demo car out of it.
