I feel you are joking about Nano drive. I personally feel driving Nano in highway over speed of 80kmph constantly in short span of time between Mumbai-Delhi should not be posted in public Forum
Ravi,

I am not joking.

I am trying to understand your concerns but I do not. We are 2 senior forum members who intend to undertake a driving journey in India's most talked about car.
We intend to drive the car safely, well within its prescribed limits and intend to reach there safely with our seat belts on.

An adventure, but a safe adventure nonetheless. I guarantee you that there will be no bad environments. And yes, these sort of adventures are the core of this forum. I see no harm in posting them for public consumption.

Are you nuts? What's the size of that petrol tank?
15 litres.
How the hell are you going to do this?
Slowly I guess, lol.

I call NC.
To Delhi?
Yes.
In the Nano?
Yes.
Are you serious?
Yes.
OK let's do it.
.
.
.
No. It is clear. We have 36 hours to reach Delhi in a car that does 80kmph.

And so begins our travelogue.
My safari keys fell off from my hands(which I was holding) and I was almost off my seat before I quickly composed myself and started reading.

Jokes apart, I can imagine this would be a really adventurous journey and an interesting thread to follow, I wish you all the best and Bon Voyage.

WOW!! Mumbai - Delhi in a Nano!!

If you're going to pass by Ahmedabad and even the least bit interested in a Tea break, do give a holler and am sure we can meet up.

Also, I have a few suggestions for the route :

From Baroda, you dont need to come to A'bad. There are 2 roads which connect to Shamlaji directly. One is via Halol and 2nd via Lunawada ( i think). Both are good roads and you'll be able to make good time.

Baroda - Kapadwanj - Shamlaji - Udaipur - Night Halt at Udaipur

from Udaipur do not take the NH8, its a very crowded road, lots of truck traffic.

From Udaipur go to Chittorgarh NH76 then Bhilwara, Nasirabad NH79 and then Jaipur NH8. This route you will bypass Ajmer.

This road is excellent except chittorgarh city where the bypass is still being constructed.

Baroda-Udaipur= 365kms
Udaipur-Jaipur= 420kms

NH76 piece - Chittor-Bhilwara-Ajmer (byepass) is excellent - open and empty. Ajmer-Jaipur is 6 lane. The toll is a bit higher on this route i.e. NH76 as compared to NH8 though.

All the Best!!!

sam, I'm not sure if sustained driving at 80kmph is possible. the wheel bearings are rated at around 70kmph, beyond that, they wear out pretty quick

Default No of pit stops

I just now read in HVKs reply that distance between Mumbai to Delhi is ~1470KM

15 Ltr Fuel tank x 17.5 KMPL = 262 KM max
it means you have to plan pit stops at every 225 - 250 KM
which means 6 to 7 pit stops

Every pit stop means 10-15 minutes break = 75 minutes

this you need to consider in your planning

also carry tubeless tyre repair kit with you in case of any flat tyre.

First of all Congrats and yellow Nano looks amazing(IMO decent alloys will make it look fantabulous).

So 3 oct is the d-day.
I suppose by now the carrying fuel part has been dropped and rightly so.
Will be glued on to this blog now on.

Anyway all the best!

Ravi.
Nano's body built is not worse than many other cars running on Indian roads. I believe time will prove that Nano is good enough a car to be driven on indian highways, although with self control.
Nano is a fragile car, is a wrong perception that will change only with time.
Only if Tatas had priced this car at par with M800, there would have been no doubt that the car was good enough. It is just the price that forces us to doubt the quality.

Go Yeti go. Have a great drive, and a safe one too.

Yes but do carry an empty cannister and a bottle with you for emergencies.
Did you explore the option of a rooftop carrier?
