Hey AP saab. I don't recollect seeing any resorts on the Amba ghats. I drove down really fine ghat sections in Amba with excellent views and road! Boy, loved the drive!
But frankly, I didn't notice any resorts there. In case you do find some, I'd love to check them out too.

@SDP. Thanks for the wake up call. Will post some soon. I'm currently engrossed in travelogues of Rjstyles (selamat Datang), Ramkya (Leh) and LDL (all around India). Will come back soon to Maharashtra

Did change and landed in Electronics city again. Only reason for not changing now is that we have a new member in our family and wife's office is just 15 minutes from where we currently stay & we still think its wise if only I travel so far.

Looks like Dive ghat. Where were you going?

And dude, what about your travelogue. Think you can hide in such places on sundays and people will forget your big trip from pune to munnar / kochi and back?

Yeah, Parag seems to be right. Seems like you drove to Lavasa. But then, only AP can correctly say. He analyses all the vaanar lingis around to tell you which place it it.

Not bad at all. While In Pune even for a weekend, I always ensured to ask fellow colleagues (Who loved driving and exploring) about surrounding places and that is how I ventured into Lavasa, Pawana to Lonavala and back via old NH4 and enjoyed.

I am sure I will make it to Pune sometime in August-Sept and meet you all folks and get details on more of such destinations. I can't miss Pune with the rains.

Now why was MX6 not posting for a long time? Work has been killing him. He's been on many weekend drives with the rain playing hide and seek. He missed his daughter and wife who went on a week trip to chennai without him (which he used for drives to Madhyapradhesh). Above all, when his daughter came back, MX6 has been spending a lot of time with her, taking her around and showing her the world.
Yes, we connected. Connected at Khandala. Teaser pic below. Rest to follow.

Bingo AP Sir, That's right. Say after the toll this view should about 10 -15 Kms. Yes definitely before pirangut ghat.

Even I went to Lavasa last saturday. It was just so amazing in rains.
The visibilty was very low due to clouds on the lavasa ghat. Specially when you cross the Lavasa main gate.

Let me quickly finish this Matheran leg so that I can move further west to Lonavala and Khandala.

We managed to get our own space at echo point. Waited till all the echoes subsided. Probably we were the only couple who enjoyed the silence at echo point.

Proceeding on the muddy path towards Big chowk point, we were greeted by trees, trees and more trees. Weather was salubrious and the ambience great was a nice long walk. And walk we did.

We consciously avoided shoes because of all the dust. And that proved to be a blessing. Our footwear was full of dust and mud and turned red in colour. All we did was just go and wash it in tap water. When the red mud was washing away in the night, in the shower, I told my wife about the famous scene from the Hitchcock movie "Psycho".

The mood was sombre and sunlight playing hide and seek, pilfering through those small holes in the canopy created by the trees was magical. But somehow I couldn't grab it at the right moment as the passing clouds wouldn't co-operate. We were in no mood to stop.

Finally at Big chowk point. Had a nice drink to chill off after long walk. It was a sheer cliff and we were at the end. I have very mild vertigo. So I can't stand at sheer edges. But then, that didn't deter me from any of the roller coaster rides in the US. That didn't deter me from standing at the edge of the cliff too.

Another view from the big chowk point. AP saab, what's that lake below? There was no one there for me to ask and register in my brain which is full of useless such trivia!

The third side of the big chowk point. My wife almost emptied the bottle of water walking this stretch. And sun was setting and we had to return. Because, we didn't carry torches. And we had to walk all the way back to the MTDC resorts!

View from the sSmall chowk point. The pink was a welcome change from all the dusty sights we had till then.
