| Team-BHP Support ![]() | Our Civic has proved to be a boon for long journeys (despite the absurd ground clearance issues) and it has given us thousands of kilometers of joy in the past 3 odd years that we've had her. She has seen umpteen number of drives to Coorg and Goa, encountered some terrible roads and the under-carriage has more dents than the moon's surface! This time, we decided to drive her to Mysore! Here is my first ever travelogue: Monday: - We left at 9:20am and were caught in Bangalore's horrendous traffic! We covered 140 odd km after one hour of the maddening traffic! We reached at 12:45 and checked into our hotel (Ginger) - After lunch, we went to Jagatmohan Art Gallery. Then, we drove around the town for a bit and headed back to the hotel. Tuesday: - At 8:30 am, we set off for Chamundi Hills. We visited the temple and walked around for a while and took in the amazing atmosphere! We stopped by and took a look at the 'Nandi' on or way down as well! We left by about 12:00 and reached the main city for lunch. - After a lazy lunch, we headed for Mysore Palace and toured the entire area. The Palace is absolutely breathtaking! - After the Palace, we drove back to the hotel and got some R&R! Wednesday: - At 10:30, we headed for a couple of relatives' houses. - After lunch, we went to Brindavan Gardens which was a bit of a let down. Plastic strewn everywhere, the dirty water and annoying 'Guides' almost forced us to leave. It's a pity that such a beautiful place once upon a time has now been turned into a dump! We missed the musical fountain and headed back to the hotel. Thursday: - We checked out of our hotel and left Mysore at 9:30 and reached the outskirts of Bangalore by 11:15. After an hour of Bangalore's grueling traffic, we reached home! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Places To Eat: For the best South Indian cuisine: Das Prakash, Park Lane, Siddhartha. Others: Olive Garden, Metro pole, The Roost. Places To See: - Mysore Palace is a must! It's absolutely fantastic! - Chamundi Hills. It's what Nandi Hills is to Bangalore! The roads that lead to the top are nothing short of spectacular. It's not for nothing that it was used as a special stage in Mysore's rallies of yore! - Jagatmohan Art Gallery. Fantastic history and brilliant tradition! - Lalit Mahal Hotel and the drive to it. Arrow straight roads, amazing '60s and '70s villas on the sides, and the Hotel architecture itself is superb! Fun And Activity: - Planet-X (On the way to Chamundi Hills) - Purple Haze - The Pub (Vijaynagar) - Hookah (On the way to Chamundi Hills) Places To Stay: - Windflower Resort - Ginger (Taj group of Hotels) - Mahindra Holidays and Resorts. - Grand Mayura Resorts. The roads there are fantastic and I don't think there are any one ways there at all! What a refreshing change from Bangalore's maddening traffic and one ways! Plus, people actually use the Zebra crossings, no one jumps the lights, people respect other people on the road, lane discipline is evident and the people are extremely friendly! Mysore is superb! | ||

| Nice pics there Suhaas. Would definitely love to see some more pics of my beloved Mysore. Brings back lot of memories. You should also try the food in Nalpak and street food outside the palace near Town Hall. |

PLUS I also love the morning walk on the railway station road. There is a coffee day express at the station. Just love sipping hot coffee and walk on the platform ! | |
