| BHPian | I have always been passionately romantic about Journeying and the Kolkata to Hyderabad journey has been my most emotional journey, done mostly by Road. After long contemplation, Kolkata to Hyderabad this time by Train is happening and this DRIVOBLOG Special Railway Edition comes to you LIVE! |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Bt, Wah ! Some one after my own heart ! Trains are so-so fun, emotion, thrill and lots more. The winding snaps, tea on the door steps and appetite asking ever more at each passing station with Pooris, Samosas, Pakodas and what not ! Its been ages since I have done long train journeys, which were integral part of my growing up years. Have been almost on all the sectors of India accept Punjab. Rail is sure fun. In the old times, only the South bound trains to all the four states TN, GT, Kerala and Karnataka expresses could boast of 22 rakes. It was real fun to watch them curve near Hoshangabad/Itarsi and go over Narmada. Thanks for reminding ! Keep them coming. |

| Senior - BHPian | To travel by train was a great idea, only bettered by the thought of doing a travelogue on it. The pics and the description brought back fond memories of the days before air travel became common and when travel (for any distance of substance) meant a train journey. I knew that the diesel locos are 'hybrid' i.e. they use the Diesel engines to generate electricity which in turn is used to run electric motors to drive the wheels (this is the secret of that huge seamless torque). That the loco engines are two stroke Diesels is news to me. Looking forward to more in this thread. Cheers, |
