hey soccerfan that was a neat write up and some cool photos

This route is currently closed for private vehicles, only KSRTC bus and KSEB vehicles allowed. Last week I tried to travel through this route and was disallowed.
Sun please check with the authorities concerned on whether you can take the moozhiyar - kakki - gavi route

Nice write up. Started hearing about Gavi a lot more these days. Your travelogure is very narrative. Will plan for a trip to Gavi very soon.

Its safe for night camping with family. The forest department provides all support.

Best way to alienate yourself from the frantic world for a few days

Default Pulincunnoo- Rajiv Gandhi Boat race

Most would have heard about Nehru Trophy Boat race happening at Punnamada,Aleppey (2nd saturday in August) but wouldnt have heard about Rajiv Gandhi boat race. This takes place every year @ Pamba river, Pulincunno -about 17km from Aleppey . Towards the Onam time. Not so good as nehru trophy race but good nonetheless .

Lets the snaps do the talking

Never heard of Gavi before though I went to Kerala a couple of times and this place looks splendid. This is one of the biggest advantages of Team-BHP. You get to know and see new places and plan a trip of your own to explore the lesser known beautiful places.

I visted gavi once .We took the route vandiperiyar-vallakkadavu forest checkpost-gavi (Forest guard will check your vehicle. They will check for alchohol and camera) Please carry identity proofs and valid vehicle document to avoid problems.

The ideal vehicle is Major, CJ3B , Gypsy, 540 etc etc, (You should be a hard hearted one to take your SUV in that route)

Expect leech in winter and rain. Take some precautions against leech( carry salt powder or tobacco or even a matchbox will help )

Dont miss chenthamara kokka and kullar (ice cold river with clean water nice for a swim) .

Its near gavi . Dont worry the locals will guide you

Why people go Switzerland when we have places like this right here in our reach?

Cheers!!

Just saw this thread. Thanks for all the details. Are you sure that private cars don't require permits to go on this route you took?
