Been around raffles city, the river and fullerton areas. How come you missed out on taking photo with Sir Stamford Raffles? He is the father of singapore!

I took a photo of the Mahatma gandhi in NYC. Was in a taxi and was happy to see him there in union square near the perimeter. Couldn't get down to pose with him though.
So no matter where I go, Gandhi is always with me.

Regarding Sir Stamford Raffles, he rests on North Boat Quay, next to the parliament house, right on the singapore river. 200 meters from clarke quay mrt.

A very nice travelogue Ashish. The idea of travelling without spending too much itself is more important. Moreover, one is not constrained by the timings/food/plan provided by tour operator! I beleive this a new way in which Ashish has contributed to team BHP. Way to go!

Story continues---

1st march 2010,

Everyone woke up lately.
It was hurry time for last min purchase and packing.
Our original plan was to check out the hotel at 10:30am, then go to kl sentral by taxi,
then by skybus, reach to lcct at @ 12:30 to catch the flight for Cochin scheduled at 2:50pm.
We checked the weight of our bags at hotel and adjusted the load accordingly.
I threw some brouchers in the dust bean to reduce the load.

Somehow, we got taxis for kl sentral and reached the lower level of kl sentral at @ 11:55.
we in the taxi for kl sentral

The bus scheduled to leave for lcct at 12 noon was almost packed with 4 seats empty.

happy faces after successful trip

We opted for next bus scheduled to leave at 12:30pm.
I thought that we will reach to lcct at 1:30 pm which will be comfortable time for all procedures for the international flight.

It was over confidence.

We sat in the bus.
I have to produce the online booking tickets to the bus operator so that he will issue the bus pass.
I searched my sack, front pockets of check in bag for the booking papers,
I realized that i may have lost the airline tickets while dumping the brouchers in the dust bean at the hotel.

what next?

All 15 guys were in tense mood,

if we can not show our booking papers, we have to pay for sky-bus,
me and my friend ran into kl sentral station,

found one internet cafe,

somehow, managed to print two booking tickets but could not print third ticket for single pax,

time was running out,
ran back to sky-bus,

it was almost 12:45pm,

i realized the mistake,

we may miss the flight,

tried to call AirAsia's call center,

but could not get third booking number,

came to lcct at @ 1:50pm,

run,run,run,

went to self check in kiosk,

entered the data,

check in done,

three boarding passes printed,

remaining passes came out blank,

no ink in the machine,

what next?

ran toward the counter mentioned on the printed boarding pass,
time 2:05pm,

" sorry sir, check in for cochin closed",....

Singapore is probably the best confluence of all cultures and traditions - Cannot think of any other place which has embraced people from all sections of the world as much as Singapore. Being on the forefront of the development and open to accept anything new while paying equal attention to the old and sticking to it's discipline and values has been it's forte.

Can't think of a single individual in my entire life who has rated Singapore anything less than 5 star.

So, my friend Ashish, no fault of yours or the rest of the Rajababus to have left the city a little later than expected - it happens to the best of planners. We know that you are doing fine and safe in India, still, I am seriously glued onto this one to know what transpired at the airport.

Cheers

'sorry sir, check in closed,......

I saw stars in the day light,

"how many passengers are there?''

"we are 15 pax",

" sir, please go to counter no R12",

Again ran like Ben,

found the counter number R12,

lost paper story told to the gentlemen at the counter,

he checked the status,

''sir, you are already checked in'',

"yes, but our boarding passes are not printed and we have to deposit our bags",

"what? check in for Cochin already closed",

"sorry sir, we are 15 pax and we are late",

A young lady with walky talky near the counter came for our rescue,

she immediately gave instructions to some one[ probably to the driver of the vehicle carrying the luggage of cochin passengers to the plane]
and directed us to counter number R13 which was meant for check in for some other flight,

the lady at R13 had shown how fast and efficiently check in of 15 guys can be done.

Got boarding passes, we did not checked our passes,

the lady at counter R13 requested us to hurry.

Then, it was run for immigration and done,
quick stroll at duty free for some purchase,

We were at the boarding gate at @ 2:20 pm, 30 min before scheduled departure.
It was the fastest airport check in procedure in our trip.

Our boys were thirsty, hungry.
Quick food and drinks at the stall and we started to board the plane.
I was on the steps of ladder at plane door.
Someone from backside called me and informed that there is some problem with the boarding pass of one of our group member.
I returned back again to the boarding gate.
There were two boarding passes with same name.
Cleared the issue at the gate itself and the guy got new boarding pass.
we were in the plane all exhausted.

It was smooth take off at @ 2:50 toward motherland.

Had in flight food.
Bought some items offered by Redmegastore in the plane.
The quality of items is good compared to the prices.
Landed at Cochin at @ 4:15 pm IST.
Some of the guys made purchases at Cochin duty free.

As i had lost all my booking papers, i have to print Go air ticket for Mumbai.
Found the net cafe at the airport and got the print out.

At @ 7:15pm, Go air plane took off toward Mumbai.
The seats are not comfortable compared to other lcc airline.

We landed at Mumbai at @ 9:10 pm.

Found our bus waiting for us since 6 pm.

Had dinner at New Bombay.

Reached to home at @ 5am.

It was successful trip.

The End.
