8] Air Asia vs Go Air.

I find that there is lot of talk about Air Asia and its low price and virtually cost everything from seat selection to food and what not.
Understand the low cost concept, you pay for what you want.
Indian lcc such as spicejet, indigo, go air, kingfisher light, jetkonnect do the same what Air Asia do.
Basic difference is Air Asia do it in cost efficient way than Indian counterparts.

Example.

All you may have read our return back story at lcct and how Air Asia handled it.
The lady at counter no R13 checked 15 pax within 10 min single handedly doing all the things such as-
- printing boarding passes, checking passports, checking baggage weight, tagging baggage etc.
We all were surprised to see the efficiency of that lady.
It was not like that we were already late so she had done it fast, i see that efficiency at all counters of air asia.
Their plane turn around time is 25 min which is lowest in aviation industry.
They kept the operating cost low wherever possible and passed the benefit to passengers.

On the other side, when i was at the check in counter of Go air at cochin airport domestic terminal,
there were three guys[ two officers and one assistant] at Go air counter.
One officer was looking at the booking receipt and confirming identity,
second officer was checking the baggage weight and making boarding pass,
third assistant was just to remove the bags from weighing scale to the storage area[ There are no conveyor belts at cochin domestic check in].
My check in was done in 10 min.

So the three guys at cochin checked one pax in 10 min vs one lady in kl checked 15 pax in 10 min.:

When will be Indian airline industry will be efficient to compete with others?

THE END

Thanks everyone for your time to read the story and good/bad comments.
I hope, everyone had enjoyed it.

Ashish, it was really enjoyable and informative write-up.

I left the thread when you ended your travelogue, and then still seeing activities came back to the thread to find those rajababu moments.

In my singapore-malaysia trip in 2002, I also had a chance to travel in Air Asia, (to and fro Kuala lampur to Langkawi), I agree with you on their efficiency.

BTW, we got the tickets free (happened to be their anniversary - most probably the second one) and only had to pay the taxes - I think was around 38 MYR per head.

AP - that was indeed a great reading.
And I agree with your point on efficiency of AA. While in Malaysia, I had travelled by AA many times and everytime I was a happy traveller.

Regarding other experience (Paki restaurant); just leave it. And that's what you did. Some things are not supposed to change; so why let it get on our nerves?

I think another remark that you made - the Babus are more disciplined in traffic and driving etc. that is because they were with you. A trip is more enjoyable if there is a disciplined and knowledgeable guide like you. Hope to meet you soon.

Ashish,

Enjoyed reading the travelogue. Very information and the pictures are nice . The end suspense sequence was just too good really gripping. I guess these real life experiences reflect in our movies

The Rajababu moments section was was an interesting read, funny at times and also one that makes us reflect on our thinking and also show our love for our food.

Weekend plan is fixed. Leaving to Mumbai on sat and coming back on sunday.
I can make it if it's saturday morning meet or a sunday dinner meet.
Can't move this trip to mumbai later as we are going to meet our music guru!
Anyway AP is there till 15th. We can always bug him for a dinner meet even after the proposed pashan meet. But that thread is almost dead now. Punekars. Wake up.

Ashish, is this The End?
With the wait for Ashish to Travel till he completes his travelogue, a long time has paased.
The time was full of uncertainities, interesting incidents and a very very worthy travelogue.
I wish you many more such travels so that many people can see the world from your eyes .

Tony, former musician in Goa, is now CEO of Air Asia.

Malaysian Govt handed him loss making Air Asia for the token price of Rm 1 and rest is the history in global aviation industry.
