After seeing you pics unoczar, I said DAM I have not been here to this part of the country. I should say such a beautiful place, lakes, boat, house boats and on top of that the climate I could feel all of them on the photos take.

Great Pics... Great log ... SUPERB

Wow! What an amazing narration! One of the best travellogues I've read, full of humour.

Great going

Default bye bye kashmir!

Morning of Day 12:

We get up a little early.. order bed tea and the two of us had it with the cake bought yesterday at mughal durbar, nice tasty experiment breakfast.

The same routine again.. we get ready first and wait for others.. i help mazhar clean the car, i feel something's wrong with the left rear tyre..

mazhar! ye tyre dekh.. hawa kam lagri...
kuch nahi hota bhai.. toobless tyran hai.. padson hyderabad mei mai ek vokswagan mai tha.. puncture rakh ke une 300 KM tak gaya... koi fikr ki baat nahi hai..
(i'm angry and he's gonna get it from me..) tu ye baat nakko bol bas! bahut joote khata aaj nahi toh!

We somehow manage not getting the tyre checked.

All are ready and we check out of the hotel... the discussion results in us deciding on some sightseeing today and leaving back for Amritsar via Jammu. I was also tired and said OK.

We ask the route to Sonmarg and try and get out of the city ASAP.. but no.. stop for breakfast cost us 1 hour.. and one of the ladies had an upset stomach.. looking for toilets, and taking medicine.. another half hour... it was already around 10 and the weather also was heating up.. here again an interesting thing happened...

my friend's brother (no beard/prayer cap) went to ask for a medicine.. the pharmacist plainly told him no prescription no medicine.. he tells me...

bhai.. wo log dawa nahi dere.. prescription hone kete.
ruk, mai leke aata hun..
(at the pharmacy) salaam alaikum, ek patta imodium dijiye,
jee zarur.

(DONE!) hehe..

it was easy..

Soon we started toward Sonmarg..

We came across a herd of sheep... i shouted.. BAKRA KAUN??.. many replied ... "mai, mai .. mayyyyyyyy" it was really funny..

LOL!

On the way to Sonmarg i saw a board saying Manas Bal Lake, we decided to check it out... not too good a place and we decide to leave, i enquired there about SOnmarg, and locals discouraged us, saying sirf pahad hai.. baraf bhi hogi.. jaana waste hai etc etc..

Nobody except yours truly was keen on ascending another mountain and going into snow.. i said forget it and lets go to Lal chowk for some shopping.

Soon by around 1.30pm we're back into Srinagar. SHopping time.. we bought lots of stuff including zafran, dry fruits, honey etc.

No space to eat as we had lots of Chirdandi (hyderabadi for small tits bits).

Everybody in and just as we're about to leave Lal chowk.. one army man and a traffic cop stop us. Mazhar is ordered to get out immediately! License and registration!

Poor fellow is scared seeing the AK-47's and 56's.. he only has the RC! no license.. A senior cop comes in and glances at me.. Orders mazhar to sit and gives the RC back..

Bachhe! hum mullah ji ki izzat karrahe hai,
jayiye!

THANK HEAVENS!

We bid goodbye to Kashmir then.. i was a bit disappointed though as we dint go to Sonmarg..

Anyways, on our way back i bought some round wada like breads.. very tasty and that was lunch for some of us.

I took the wheel till about 50KM and then Mazhar bhai took the wheel.. Back through the mountains.. we stopped at TITANIC view point for one last look at the magnificent Kashmir Valley.
-------------------
Let us now fast forward to Amritsar the next morning.. 13th day of the trip. We did this almost non-stop.. except for toilet and food breaks.

Day 13:

We enter Amritsar city at around 7-8AM.. it is already really HOT weather. Again same policy.. first hotel we see.. check in.

Rates are reasonable too.. 450 i guess. After fighting and killing a couple of cockroaches we sleep for a few hours.
-----------------
Coming up tomorrow.. Amritsar sightseeing, wagah border show missed and CHoo CHaa # 2.

ye thi khabre aaj tak intezaar kijiye kal tak!!! lol!
