Default Last Home Run!

Done with the Tyre and dog drama, we drove off once again toward our destination.

The next major town we came to was narsimhapur. The road was good in parts, lots of 4 laning going on.

Towards the evening, we were nearing Seoni and doing good time on a tyre with puncture fixed with mud and fewiquick!

We passed a couple of small ghat sections and the sensor for the tyre pressure beeps... 30...29...28...

The pressure in that rear left is reducing and fast.. we must get to a town quickly. Soon, we reach the NH again and see a fuel pump and a puncture wala next to it. Diesel and puncture needed. We decide for puncture first.

The guy had the tools necessary for it, but couldn't just get the mud out of it to fix the puncture. After about half an hour of wrestling with it, he gives up and says that he has filled up air, go to Seoni and it should be done there. Great! Diesel too at Seoni.. We zoom off again with the pressure beeps.. 25....24....23.... It somehow stopped at 20.5-21. It just wouldn't go down below that.

Well before sunset we reach Seoni and stop at the first puncture repair shop. There was a small boy, but he had the skills and tools and patience to repair it.

More than 2 hours spent there.. first he repaired the puncture. The air's still leaking, (nail had done good damage), he opens it up and applies a patch from inside.

He also checks the 2nd hand tyre we bought and patches that up too!

kitna hua bhai?
paanch sau pachaas rupaya!

i was not even going to ask him for what??

i handed a green gandhi to him and left the place. Tomorrow was monday and we could reach in the morning. The car looked good enough to reach hyd.

I drove for a bit and handed over to Mazhar who had eaten as well as rested a bit.

Now, because of all the hassles and tiredness, i have developed a cold and pop in a cetrazine and doze off in the back when mazhar takes over.

The dreaded clock strikes 1 AM, and he's stopped again, i can't even open my eyes since i have taken the drug, and haven't slept in 3 days.

Ab kya hua be?!
Police check post bhai.

Oh! NO! not again!

We were in Nagpur and the MH police are not going to leave a bunch of Muslims so easily. They even want to inspect the car since the back is full of stuff and even the broken wheels. They search the car thoroughly and after finding nothing, catches mazhar's collar and takes him into the chowki.

All we needed was this after all we've been thru..

1 hour of arguments. No license, no insurance. hehe..

bara sau rupaya ka challan hoga saheb!
KYA?!
paise nahi hai sir.
RC nahi milega!

ok, i manage to shell out another 1200/-
and they din't even give me the receipt for it.

Done with the police now i just wanted to get home. At the final check post of Nagpur we're stopped again! for seat belts.. its 2 AM!! Seat belts?

wo kya hota hai? (i ask the police man, clearly sleep-deprived!)

Another 100 rs. later we say BYE! to Nagpur.

Mazhar takes over from the highway and i sleep.

Bhai, Hyderabad kitna duur hai yaha se?
500 kilometer
5 ghante mein pahuncha detun!.
Khamush gaadi chala, joote khata nahi toh
I prayed to god, that we reach safely after going thru so much.

Early morning i get up. i feel refreshed and look around, both of them in the front are happily speeding toward Hyd, or were they?

The idiots weren't even asking for directions. I suddenly saw a stone saying.."Chandrapur"

WHAT?!!!!

ye kaha leke aa gaya re tu?? pagal saale!
are bhai seedha ek hi road pe aaya!
tum logon se ek highway pe nahi raha gaya!!?

And what followed was endless search for the highway... we went from chandrapur to ghugus (look for it on Gmaps).. to some weird villages and finally after 3-4 villages we found the highway...

Another 300 KMS to Hyd.!!!!

Saalon! tumne at least 3 ghante aur 200 KM waste kardiya!

i shout at them as we are near Adilabad town.

After the ordeal, we Run through the rest of the distance without much incident and reach home in the after noon at about 2pm, when i started this LOG!

Thank you very much for reading this with patience! I hope you had a good time and went thru many emotions.. happy, angry, frustrated and relieved!!

Till my next adventure!

SHAB-BA-KHAIR!

THE END

I'm going to Mumbai, by the way, on the 16th. hehe..... just a 2 day trip.
Please pray for me!

PICS from Seoni:

Very apt i feel that this travelogue coming to end with sunset PICS!

One of the most delightful travelogues I have ever read!
This is what I felt through the various 'stages':

...and my new hero is Mr. Mazhar!

Khaleed Bhai, how about felicitating Mazhar. Mala pehna ke Ghode per bitha ke Charminar ke ird - gird ghumainge

What say?

P.S: I think you should atleast get 3rd party Insurance if not comprehensive for a 2 yr old car

In fact, I was surprised that you had been so patient with him in the first place. I would have sent him back in a train and driven completely if I was in your place

that point actually did rise a couple of times. he was himself begging me to let him go in a bus/train. i replied with a stern NO, as i was too tired of driving that monster.

Khaleed bhai, fully interesting travelogue raha ye! BTW, you also need to take some blame for missing insurance. Especially if you travel outside your state, it is a must as you cannot manage police there.

Hope next time you'll have a enjoyable and hassle free trip!
