laluks,

Your photos are very good. You should try the Salem-Ayodhyapattinam-Sukkampatti-Kuppanur-Yercaud route. This route is bit lengthy than the usual one, but will be thick in greeneries. This is my favorite route to Yercaud.

Thanks rameshnanda.

I took the easiest route for me from Bangalore side. Taking that route from the Chennai side is easier. Where does it join in at Yercaud? Near the Pogoda Point?

May be one day if coming from that side will take a drive up through that route.

I guess there is one more route which will join at Kanavaipudur and from there join NH7 before Thoppur. This a fork from the Loop road.

Did not try these too

Yes. The 32 km (22 km ghat) section from Salem is the easiest. But, the other route wouldn't be more than 45-50 km from Salem. It does join near the Pagoda Point. That route is worth it.

You are right that there is another unexplored route from Kanavaipudur. I have never tried this. Don't know about the road condition too.

FYI, my native town is Salem . I used to go to Yercaud in my bike atleast once or twice each month during my college days.

Now We have some more reasons to go back

The fork from loop road to Kanavaipudur looked decent, but don't know how long that road is decent. I saw a bus coming in from that route. may be it goes to some village in between. Else the route should be a regular route and we can check it out.

Now, I am tempted to try out the kanavaipudur route .

You should try Yercaud after the Summer. Yercaud is more beautiful during the monsoon time.

Cool. So will wait for your adventure

I had been to Yercaud in 2008 after the rains. This was the second visit. You can see 2008 pictures in the initial part of the log. Killiyur falls was amazing that time.
