We made our way back to Ooty, and somehow managed to lose our way in the town. Asking for directions, we landed on the Ooty-Mysore route. I initially thought this was the same route as the one we came, but we were mistaken. This route actually made its way to Gudalur, and from there Gundalpet and so on.

Ooty -> Gudalur -> Gundalpet -> Mysore -> Bangalore.

This meant we didnt need to climb down the Ooty ghats, but instead got to drive downhill along nicely banked, curved roads which were well-laid as well. This also meant we got to maintain some rather decent speeds. I got a KA registered Innova cab for company and used him as a pilot vehicle for as long as possible.

Along the way we passed Pykara Falls, Pykara Park, Shooting Point and so on, but not wanting to get late further we decided to leave these places for next time, and make the most of favourable driving conditions to pile on the kilometers.

We maintained some good speeds along the way, and once we got onto Mysore Road, the NFS game was already underway. Vehicles were upto all sorts of nonsense in their hurry to get back to Bangalore. I found a KL registered Fortuner which was my pilot vehicle in the heavy rains which lashed us all the way from Srirangapatna till Chennapatna. Whoever it was who was driving that Fortuner, thanks a lot for being an excellent pilot vehicle and driving very safe. I owe you one, bearing number 666.
Stopped at McDonalds for dinner on the way back and wriggled our way through Bangalore City to get home by around 10:30PM. Since i was driving all the way back with just one break, my legs were aching, and i had a backache as well. However, nothing that a good night's sleep couldn't cure.

P.S. : Thanks to beejay for pointing out that Sims Park is in Coonoor, and not Ooty which was a mistake in my writeup.

Ampere, don't tell me you don't know about it.
It's NEED FOR SPEED. That's a car racing game by EA sports. Try it and you'll get hooked to it.

Reminds me of the most famous Conan Doyle quote:

"his ignorance was as remarkable as his knowledge"

PS: I am not saying I am knowledgeable!

Sorry for the OT.

Well said Siva. Anyway I dont drive more than 80-100!

By the way, what happened to your bike trip? Is it done?

Coming back the TL, NH212 is now in an amazing shape. Some how one can notics lots of traffic till Nanjangud! Surprisingly it all vanishes after Nanjangud and you are greeted with newly tarred road and long visibility!

NFS has got nothing to do with speed in real world driving. If that's the reasoning, then imagine games like war of worlds!
But as Fordmanchau points out even I'm surprised how a techie interested in Cars didn't know about NFS.
But thanks to the wonderful quote from Conan Doyle, contributed by Ampere himself, we forgive him
But do try NFS on your comp atleast once ampere. I'm not a gaming person. But I loved NFS.

To tell you the truth guys I have not played a single game for the last 20 odd years! The last game I played was Packman (if thats is how it is spelled !) was sixth standard, at my neighbours place who just had bought latest PC which had to connected to the TV for display.

Never was interested in games.

I am sure by now Ben must be cursing why he had to put the term NFS in the TL!

Quite true! Check out the snap of Bandipur forest which i had posted, and you can see litter all around in what is a National Park in our country.

LOL! Ampere, NFS as the others have already clarified refers to 'Need for Speed' where you race against other cars. There are several versions of the game as well.

Between, the game you are referring to is PcMan, and i believe thats how its spelt.

My reference to NFS was regarding to how people drive along the Bangalore-Mysore highway. Its literally a whole lot of people out to push their vehicles to get ahead of the vehicle in front in whatever-however way possible. Highbeams galore, motorists literally inching close to your car's rear, etc are the norm rather than the exception. If you were to brake suddenly, you can be rest assured of a chain reaction and serial pile-up.

If these weren't enough, unmarked speedbreakers along the highway add to the experience.
