Default Route query

raj.barcode :: I did the BLR Kanyakumari >> Rameshwaram >> Trichy >>Blr the first week of this month and got to experience the Mettur Dam early morning about 5:45. It was a beautiful sight.

I would like to know what route you took Palani. More details on this would help me as I plan this trip for the next month.

we were supposed to take this road(Bangalore>Krishnagiri>thoppur>mettur>bhavani>perun darai>kangayam>dharapuram>palani>kodaikanal Kodaikanal) we did it right till bhavani then me in my enthusiasm to drive fast took the byepass of suriyampalayam, chithode, nasiyanur, karumandi, chelli palayam and got deviated to coimbatore road instead of entering erode district, so had to double back about 35kms to perundarai go to kangayam then dharapuram and finally palani.

As far as i remember there is only one road from palani to kodai. There is a circle in palani city where one road goes to coimbatore, another to kodai and the next back to dharapuram. The road that we took went right through the entrance archway of the palani temple.

We reached palani after missing a lot of turns, best of part of the journey was everywhere we ask for directions we would get this reply from localities

(straightaa ponke aprama left pongae)

translation: go straight and take left (note: hand would always suggest right turn) we always folowed the hand direction to go to the correct destination.

With all the wrong turn and wrong inputs we reached palani with view of beautiful temple on a hillock, At the entry we realized we have about 62km to reach kodai. we started the climb with 28 degrees on the car temp. reading gauge. It was about 11:00 in the morning.

We reached half way through and spell bound by the amount greenery. It was a meager between the green and the misty clouds which ever side you look at. Half way through the climb temperature gauge read 21 degrees.

These snaps were taken at 31 kms from palani

we spent about 30 minutes there to realize that varsha's not in great mood because her stomach was GRRRRRRR.. growling.

"The Gift of the Forest" -Land of misty afternoons- kodai-dsc03699_1067x800.jpg

Her stone faced expressions made us get into the spacious living room (xylo) we were traveling in to reach brilliant fresh fruit shops where we had lots of plums, pears, orange carrots and we men puffing to glory. from here on we just sped away towards kodai. in misty roads around 12:45

fruits were literally plucked from trees around

we reach kodai with temperature hovering 19 degrees.
This is what we encountered right at the entry it is called silver cascade falls

The Kodai resort was about 10 kms from here approx. and amount of mist really surprised us. Upon asking in the reception we realized it had rained the previous night so it was like that.

We reached at 1:40 in the afternoon

Rest to follow....
