The forest was rather quite, sunny and dusty.
But nothing could bring down our eagerness to find the tiger.
We kept driving , and collecting dust, but of no help.
Finally we reached a T junction where there were a few gypsys waiting in silence , when enquired they said that there was a male tiger resting since the morning, and hoped that he would get up in the evening...
so we lined up too..

The driver of the gypsy had changed and he really was good. He stopped the gypsyat the T junction as we could not go on the road the other gypsies were waiting, as it was not our given route. The driver assured us that incase the tiger walked out of the tall grass we would get the best pictures.

Now it was over an hour and nothing happeneing. My son was singing and had hundreds of questions about the jungle and i could see people from the other gypsy were giving us stern looks.
By now a lot of gypsys had lined up. Some even left, as only 15 mins more were left for the gates to close.

We had our eyes fixed onto the gypsies which were closer to where the tiger was to be resting.
We waited and then finally the flashes of the cameras came alive like fireworks and we knew that we need to stand and wait for the king to arrive...
Finally he arrived and we were blessed.

But then his afternoon siesta was still not over, he decided to sit down , roll and yawn in the tall grass leaving us pleading for him to get up.

Time was running out and the tourists were piling up causing chaos , blocking the road completely with the hope of getting one little glance of the tiger.
Finally he took pity on us and put up a complete show, I am sure none of us could complain by the end of it.
It was such an amazing experience that I have put up pictures of every movement of his.

We zoomed into a cloud of dust with our senses overwhelmed by our trip to Bandhavgarh.

I shall now go down memory lane to my first tiger sighting in Kanha in the year 1996.

Coooolcat21,
Now thats what we call TIGER SHOW. Its a huge male in his prime.

The tiger's love for water even in cold winters is demonstrated in your photographs. Good captures from siesta to swim to slinking away.

Liked the 1st and 3rd in post# 34, most, your L series shows off here.
Regards,

Awesome snaps..

Snap #2 in Post 34 seems a tad over-processed, probably to make color "pop".

My first visit to Kanha National Park was way back in 1996.
And the first tiger sighting of my life was in my first safari on the 18th of November in 1996

I would say Kanha is "Gods own Haven"
How else could have mowgli come to life here and live on in every childs memory..
Thats called inspiration. Thats what Kanha does to u.

As it was our first trip our minds were clear and just looking forward to what a jungle is in reality.
We started by 6Am from nagpur in a maruti 1000 and reached well in time for the evening 3.30 pm safari.
We parked our car and walked up to the reception which is a part of the resturant called Gol Ghar. Just then we see a small herd of spotted deers , we were so much in awe of the place that nothing was really registering.
We went thru the formalities of checking in to a cottage facing a beautiful maidan which again had a herd of spotted deer.
We were already so happy by seeing the deers , we felt our trip was just made. Not knowing that its the safaris that would actually take us to the jungles where the real action of wildlife is.
Had a quick lunch and hopped into our gypsy for our first safari.

Then the gates of the National Park opened.
