Christmas means get together, and that means a lot of kids, including the Big ones. Last Christmas eve, we had been to Bannerghatta National Park in Bangalore to see and understand some wonderful beings from the animal kingdom. By no means they are freely wandering like in the other reserves, which is quite sad. The Park should be called Bannerghatta Zoo most appropriately

Since a lot of wildlife is going on now, let us see some more of them

We had been at the Park on 24.12.2010.

We were at the park from 11:30AM till 17:00PM.

The animals and shelters can be adopted. Some famous personalities have sponsored some animals here.


We drove back via the NICE road to home.






We reached home by 18:30PM, taking 1.5 hours for the 25km drive . Next day was Christmas, and our home was houseful.

Yes, I think this zoo is one of the best around here. Especially, I notice a lot of Tigers in here. Perfect destination for one day.

Those Tigers were quite active this time. Perfect destination for a day, and kids will enjoy the amazing wild life.

The rates are hiked by about 5 times for the entry now.

Nice travelogue. Nicer pictures. Reminds me of the time I spent there in 2003. Things seems to have improved a lot since then.
BTW, did you take a bus into the safari ? I don't see pictures taken through grills.

I did take the department mini bus for the safari. The Grill part is to do with the lens, since was focussed very far away the near by grill was never an issue.

How does this compare to Mysore Zoo (i.e., if you have been there)? Had been to Mysore Zoo last summer and saw quite a sizeable collection of wildlife, but had a tough time answering my 5-year-old daughter's concerns about them not being in their natural environs

After having heard and read about the crowds and the poor living conditions in Bannerghata, I haven't been too inclined to go there, but may reconsider this summer only if we can make it on a week day.
