| My friend took the delivery of his new mahindra thar crde, I am very surprised by the jeep, its fast , it has an ac that cools fast and it has the ruggedness of a jeep, it's like best of both worlds! My friend calls her bloody merry for some strange reason. here's the pic of the thar on the beach, looks picture perfect in this color! ![]() So to test it out a bit we set on a roadtrip, to Suryalanka beach near Bapatla around 340 km from hyderabad early saturday morning. The plan was to return the same day, it was kind off tough but covering more than 800km in a day with 2 aux drivers was not new to us , a person could sleep in the back, we put a bean bag in the back to make it comfortable, idea lifted from kandisa on tbhp :PThe route we chose was Hyd - narsapet - guntur - bapatla - surya lanka The roads were ok , there were some rough patches but not very annoying so was the traffic. Returned through vijayawada. About the jeep , it's brilliant no turbo lag at all will put many diesel turbo charged cars to shame, the jeep kind of feels over powered by the engine, but in a good way. The ac was also fitted by m&m works brilliantly. Couldn't help smiling at cars that ask for side and not being able to overtake like they'd normally do. The road presence of the jeep is phenomenal, always gets all the attention in traffic and when parked has many curious on-lookers surrounding it shooting questions, some curious ones like "How does it have a metallic paint ?" and the legendary question "Mileage entha ? " Cruising at 80-90 kmph at 2k rpm in 5th was very easy, by lowering the right foot a bit to invite the eagerly waiting turbo, it can overtake with ease! However , the finish quality of the interior could have been a lot better , it's just plastic why can't they use better plastic ? The lever to open the door on the passenger door broke off on the second day itself and there was rattling sound from the hardtop kind of thing on the front cabin and squeaking noise form the rear left springs. ![]() The fuel economy was around 12- 14 kmpl with ac, understandable because of the engine's newness Forgot to mention, found a very nice eating place thing on the return journey it was called "7" , very nice! Leaving you guys with some more images, will try and upload some videos of Thar in 4x4 on loose beach sand tomorrow! Good night! ![]() ![]() ![]() Note from the Team-BHP Support : Please note that it is now imperative for you to upload pictures directly to the Team-BHP Server. | BHPian | Nice pictures. I like the colour of the vehicle. Different. How much is the Thar selling for? And ya the interiors look shoddy. Let's all ping Mr. Anand Mahindra on Twitter and tell him to improve the interior quality for Christ's sake :P. A beautiful vehicle being let down by such cheap plastics. |

| The ac was also fitted by m&m works brilliantly. Congrats to your friend on buying the Thar. Awesome looking . Just need a clarification. The fact you have mentioned about the a/c fitted by M&M, are you referring the ac fitments by a M&M dealer or company fitted in the Thar. |

| Hi 123 ! Nice to know that you guys had a great time with the Thar ! Red looks hot but need alloys to beef up the look . The FE seems impressive . Finally someone with an " AC " , It will be great to know how much was the AC installation and if possible the details about which OEM parts are used . It will of great help to a lot of us who are dying to get a clear cut idea about The AC. Enjoy your drives . |

| First Thar on Team-BHP with an AC!!! Can you post some good snaps of the the AC fitted? And as others have said the price too. Is the softtop airtight enough to make no difference to the AC cooling? And yes "Nice color". |
