Hats off to you both sir! I just shy of 30 and can not even dare to do this kind of journey, let alone on bike!

No wonder the Indian Defence is really roboust and gives a sense of security by itself to know about your journey!

Way to go sir!!!

Cheers!

Prologue

This is the last post on this thread.

I linked up with Medini at Delhi. She was busy playing golf with my Indian Navy friends when I arrived! So much for HAMS !!

At Delhi, Members from other Motorcyle riding groups met us at the Kotla Navy Mess.
It was so nice of them to meet us. They just wanted to see us, who we were. For them Ladakh per se was no big deal! The Oldie thing riding to Ladakh got them intrigued! We had never met any of them!

Vice Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin rounded up our Navy friends in Delhi and hosted a party for us on the lawns of INS INDIA . I was asked to give a small talk on our trip. Trust me it was NOT SMALL!

On return to Pune the entire BikeNomads freternity hosted us to dinner. Some 20 youngsters no more than 30 yrs old hosting 55 plus couple! The POWER OF YOUTH !!

They presented us with coffee mugs with our pics pasted on there to.

On most online Biking web sites we had become some kind of role models for the young bikers!

I promised the Ladakh mountains I wll be back for MEDINI !

Beautiful. Reading through it felt like being there with you at Ladakh. I was overwhelmed by the Mckennas Gold picture.

So your promise of being back for Mrs. Chitnis happened in 2009? Please post the 2009 log here so the story continues.

Cdr sir, it's been a wonderful & inspirational experience going through this log. Three Cheers to Mrs. Chitnis & you on accomplishing this Wild Wild Ride. Unfortunate about the HAMS setting in but I guess the 2009 trip must have been a trip with a vengeance.

Pray continue with your Ladakh, the 2009 saga ASAP!

@Laluks> Sir, the 2009 Ladakh pictorials, I will start today. Though I have the pics, the painful part is writing the script to go with the Pictures.

Thank you for the compliments.

@T Bhp Mods> As recommended by you, I will continue the 2009 Ladakh TL on this thread.

@ Lords> Thank you for the compliments!

I should have the first picture up by 10 AM today !!

LADAKH A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY YEAR 2009

Through The Wild Desert Mountains and Spiritual Awakening. Ladakh, 2007/09-ladakh-revisited.jpg

Two years ago, 2007, I stood here all alone, on a motorcycle. No one
around me for a 100 sq kms.

The mountains were bereft of snow and ice. It was a desert hard rock mountain country then.

I had promised the Ladakhi Himalayas that I will return and then I will kiss your snow and ice.

I did.

It was a spiritual awakening in a thousand different ways!
And the Gods answered my prayers.

I walked through snow and ice, the Himalayan peaks stood there for me in splendid isolation with snow peaked mountains, the brilliant clouds and the blue skies contrasted magnificently with the white peaks where ever I travased through Ladakh.

Yes it was cold, minus 4 degrees C.

I met many wise Ladakhi people. I asked them

"Tell me why I have come again?"

They said "You have come back because you listen to your heart. You have come to listen to the song of the mountains, the winds here will speak to you. Stay silent, breathe deep. You will return home a "Ladakhi Monk" .

They were right.

I stand a transformed man as never before.

Mrs Chitnis if you are reading this post of your husband, have it printed in beautiful font and frame it to adorn your wall at home.

This is one of the most beautiful posts I have come across in ages. You articulate beautifully Mr Chitnis

Wishing you well

Through The Wild Desert Mountains and Spiritual Awakening. Ladakh, 2007/09-can-i-touch-you-there.jpg

And then I shouted out loud

"Oh My Lord, can I touch you there?"

I got the answer " No not now. You have miles to go.."

And then I said to myself:

"Oh Lord, It is a Wonderful World......."
