Default Tyre upgrade for Swift VDI

Guys
I will be taking delivery of my swift vdi in two days. I would like to upgrade my stock tyres and rims. My priority is ride comfort.(not into perfomance thingy). Can you suggest a setup in 14in and 15 in keeping in mind ride comfort. Also the brand of tyre and alloys in these sizes? Please pour in your valuable suggestions...
Cheers
Dilip

If you are looking for comfort stick to 14 in tyres. Either go for 185/70/R14 or 195/70/R14

IMHO, 205/60/15 would fit the bill perfectly - as in looks & ride quality.

Cheers

205/60-15 is a bit too big. 205/55-15 is the correct size.

205s will be expensive and you would have to shell out at least 5-8k more for the tyres. These tyres would also give you lower FE 1-2 km/l. Also you would be sacrificing on the comfort if you go for 15" as compared to 14". If you are looking for performance and braking for high speed driving go for 205s else 185s are perfectly fine.

dilipkumar if you need more of a comfort based setup my personal choice would be the 185/70-R14 on stock rims or maruti alloys OR 195/70-R14 on 14x6J or 14x6.5J alloys.

see mate i say the stock maruti alloys because they will surely add to the resale of the car as well, other wise you can even go for the after market 14x6J alloys for the 185/70-R14 too will have slightly better performance in comparison as the tyre stretchs .5J more, say with a bit compromise on the comfort but will still do mate. that the only reason for suggesting maruti alloys.

trust me anything below that would compromise a little on ride comfort, see the thing is most of the swift drivers with low-profile tyres are youngsters so they would not mind a little loss in the ride quality, for people like my dad who are 50+ the 195/60-R15 MXV8 Michelin tyres had bad ride comfort it did give him back aches during un-avoidable pot holes.

so i put them on viva accent of mine and now i run on 185/70-R14 on maruthi Type-II alloys right now, its just that the suspension on swift is too bad to absorb the pot holes and bumps unlike my viva, the same tyres work like a charm on my accent viva even though they are 7% big tyres they did suit my car perfectly.

like i said again the 60 profile is bad on swift's suspension the Indian version of the swift is simply not good enough with that profile, we youngsters may be fine but but the elders will surely feel the pinch.

guess what GUYS i just picked up the TYPE-II SWIFT alloys for a steal DEAL can any one guess the price for a set of 5?

well i will answer that in the evening just try guessing.

@rider60 sorry to say but i don't agree with you 195/60/15 is the best upsize for swift and plus there is no problem with the ride quality.

If you check on the tyre size calculator, you will see that what I suggested has the minimum variation on the outer diameter of the tyre vs OE spec.

Nonetheless on could very well use the 55 profile.

Cheers

dude thats my personal experience and from what my dad agrees too, every time there was an unavoidable pot hole the car just hit hard with the 60 profile too for him, hence i wrote what i did, well lets leave the rest to one who want to buy the tyres, let them take a test drive and decide.

I would recommend against it, 195 is too wide for the stock steel rims. Stick to 185/70.
