I exchanged the Swift ZXi alloys and JK Vectra 185/70/R14 tyres for INR 20500 for all the 5.

Let me remind you there is WAY TOO MUCH demand for those alloys/tyres. Esp from VXi/VDi owners. If money outflow is not really a problem, I'd rather suggest you sell them yourself.

8-10k sounds too cheap!

What is the recommended tyre pressure for the Swift petrol shod with 205/55/R15 PP2 tyres ?

I'm currently running at 29 psi nitrogen. But the tyre more often than not looks deflated

I would say you have the correct fill 29 psi of nitrogen gives you the right comfort on your drive. I had observed that when i had filled mine with 30 psi, during long drives the psi had incresed to 31/32. I could trace this on the TPMS. So on my return trip i reduced it to 29 psi. The TPMS had indicated 30/31 after half an hours drive. I guess 29 is the right fill for street drives.

My cousin is buying a Swift D. The prob is that it comes with 165mm tyres. I've asked him to upgrade to atleast 185mm but he has been advised by some others to stick with the 165 as it would void waranty and fetch him a very low price even if he tried to exchage them.

Having driven a stock Swift D, i know how horrible those skinny tyres are. It would be very risky to use these on the highway, especially during monsoons. And to make things worse, he is picking the non ABS version.

So id like to know how can a tyre upgrade void waranty and how much can we expect for these un-used tyres.

Tyre upgrade to 185/70 R14 CANNOT and SHOULD NOT void warranty as it's the stock size for ZXi and ZDi models.

I suggest Michelin or Yoko A drives.

@praveen --- 205/50 R15 will give you very poor ride quality. Plus, there is more risk of tyre damage.

Thumbs up

Nikhil ....Thx for ur reply...btw ur reply i saw in the forum that

16 inch Alloys - with 205/50 is acceptable for swift ---BUT compromises such as - bit hard on suspension and would affect the ride quality .

1) 15 inch alloys - with 205/60 R15 is what i am planning ...is this ok ...?

2) Saw some Alloys with Brand ION .with chrome Lip and deepdish design....not sure if this is a good one + It had NANKEN brand tyres ---Need expert advice on this Brands

3) In btw my vehicle will be coming in another 10-15 days and going for a immediate change of stocks ......How much can i expect for the stock tyres ?

@ Nikhil -- In MADHU"s any discounts on tyres like the disocunt on services ...for TEAM BHP members?

Mod Note: Avoid dotty posting and SMS lingo in future

As you have rightly observed, 205/50 R16 will give you a very hard ride. And yes, it would be very hard on the suspension.

1). 205/60 R15 might touch. 205/55 R15 is the correct size, but I know someone who is using 205/60 R15 without any problems except on full lock. Personally, I wouldnt suggest it.

2). Frankly, I will not suggest such alloys and tyres. Better you go for well known brands. I would say Lenso Samurai 15'' and 205/55 R15 Yoko S drives would be perfect. Lots of people on TBHP have this combo and are very happy.

3). You can expect about 800 or so per tyre for oyur stock tyres(assuming it is the 165/80 R14).

Praveen, of course. You dont even need to ask about it!

Guys, today I had servey of tyres on the JC Road for my VDi, which are due for replacement now!
Cheapest quotes per tyre for size 185/70 R14 that I got for different brands is as follows:
Bridgestone G-III - Rs. 3100/-
Yokohama A-Drive - Rs. 2800/-
Michelin XM1+ - Rs. 3750/-
Goodyear (don't remember the model) - Rs. 2400/-! Surprised!
Cooper - Rs. 3150/- (Cooper offers replacement warranty on any defect, plus return with full payment if I don't like the tyre after use, for say 500kms!!)

One thing one dealer told me that Goodyear tyre life is quite less around 25-30K kms, and that's the reason they are cheaper, and bridgestone lasts 50K+ kms!! And one astonishing thing, one dealer offered new JK tyres (165/85), same that come stock with VDi @ 1200 per tyre!! Really!!! So just imagine for how much Maruti gets them!

Please suggest for which one to go, I prefer comfort than sports performance!

Those tyres would have been used as Stock tyres on Maruti Swift and replaced as soon as the owner bought the car. These replacement buy back typically is for 900-1000 Rs. and Dealer sells the same for 1200 and makes a cool 20% profit.

MSIL gets the JK Tornados for INR 600 per tyre is what a tyre dealer once told me.
