Well, the stock tyres were GPS2s. Not assurance. However, you can then put Assurance when changing the stock tyres.

my bad...its GPS2 on 5.5 J x 14 Alloys, but the alloys dont cover the spare wheel..

also guys, can someone guide me on zero'in on the tyre i need to buy as I am getting my Palio 1.6 sports next week..I have shortlisted the below

My budget is max 3500/tyre - 185/65/R14 - The width and profile is the result of my desire to have a balance between performance and comfy ride...do suggest me your thoughts...

1) Goodyear NCT5 - Rs 2900
2) BridgeStone B250 - approx Rs. 3500
3) If i have a second thought on the budget I might go for Michelin XM1 Plus- Rs 3750

I am planning to upgrade the stock alloys as well, unfortunately the only standard PCD available for the 1.6 is from AURA, who have stopped their production for a while due to labour problems, but there should be some dealer having old stocks whom i need to hunt..else I might upgrade only the Tyres and retain the stock alloys

Request everyones' views...

Thanks
Siva

Question Where in Bangalore can I find 5J 155/65 R13

I'm looking specifically for alloy, 5J 155/65 R13

Does anyone know which reliable brand can meet my need and in bangalore and where can I find it?

:
:
:

PS:-------------------- Why only 5J will do --------------------------
1. Zen with 5.5J will makes steering reasonably stiff to handle.

2. I've been suggested that XM1+ make of 155/65 R13 with 5.5J wheel will not be a good choice for Zen as rear arches will touch

3. Although 5.5J will go with 165/60 R13, my math which reveals it will decrease my ground clearance by 9mm which might be insignificant for other cars but Zen is low .

4. Talking to a friend makes me prefer XM1+ over Yoko even thought former is costlier and XM1+ does not 165/60 R13

Please feel free to correct me if my any opinion / info above is misplaced!

5J you will get ONLY in aura. Maybe Neo. no chance of getting this in any imported brand. They make it broader.

What size tyre do you plan to put if you dont want 155/65 R13? Putting that size tyre on 5j rims also will touch the wheel arch(if what you say is true).

Anyway, I agree perfectly with your choiuce of XM1+.

Question Still pretty lost

Will 155/65 R13 fit on 5.5J rims without too much bulge?

The other choice is 165/55 R13 but then XM1+ tyre is not available in that size hence not preferred.

As far touching the arch is concerned there is a solution of tapping in the vestigial jutting metal of the rear arch so main concern is with wider tyres is the steering discomfort and whether it will touch the well! I hear, steering discomfort more than just palpable in non-PS. I do not know how it is gonna impact me since mine is PS.

I wish that a Zen / ex-Zen owner provides some inputs on my concerns.

Default Good exchange price for new stick JK 205/60/R16?

I am planning to upgrade the tyres of the SX4 Zxi I am buying, and want to go for an exchange offer. What would be a good deal per tyre? I am getting widely varying quotes - from Rs. 2500 to Rs. 3500 per JK stock tyre.

Heu guys I'm planning on getting Yokohoma S drives in bangalore for 17 in wheels. I had a few questions

1. I went to hot tracks and pit stop and they both said that S drives are not available in 205/45/R17 size and that they only come in 215/40/R17. Is this true, because I'd much rather get 205/45. 40 profile is probably gonna be much harder to maintain.

2. Any ideas what price they should be around? I was quoted 8.9k and 8.6k at these shops.

It's not available in 205/45 R17 for sure. Prices are correct. Some normal variation is expected.

The tyres on the SX4 are good by themselves, they were developed by JK specifically for the car with Maruti engineers. I would not suggest the excahnge

I totally disagree. They are bad tyres. It makes a lot of sense to upsize. And the fact about them being developed by JK specifically for te car is untrue. JK Vectras are cheap, bad tyres. Good only for the companies(like Maruti) who fit them on the cars as they are so cheap and allow the car manufacturer to make a little more profit than if they fitted decent tyres.

Just going to change my tyres in my OHC Vtec in Bangalore and wanted to know the best option for the 195/60/14 size. I was looking at the following options and the prices indicated along with dealer listed below. The preferences are in the same order 1 to 5. Please let me know which one would be great and which shop would I get the best price for them.

1) Bridgestond Potenza G3 - price 3700 each - Shiva Enterprise BEL rd
2) BF Goodrich Sport - price 3500 each - Shankar Tyres Bel Road
3) Yokohama ES 100 - price 3400 each - Shankar Tyres Bel Road.
4) Michillin XM1+ - price 4250 each - shankar tyres Bel road
5) Appollo Accellere Sport - 3400 each - Shankar Tyres Bel Road

Unfortunately the PP2 is not available in this size.

I have used the Goodyear Ventura so far and have had a good experience. Was looking for a change as I have the Goodyear F1 on my bros Indica. This tyre has a very thin side wall and have already changed about 3 tyres in 4 years due to them ripping open due thanks to our bad higways with craters out of the blue.

I have the Bridgestone G3 on my dads Swift DDIS and was pretty happy with its performance even at speeds of 140+. Also I compared most tyres side by side and see that the G3's have a good thick side wall.

Dont get the GIII. It's not great.

My recommendation in that size is the Continental CPC 2. Simply blows the rest of the tyres out of the water.
It should cost you about 3.9k or so.

My recommendation is like this.

1). Conti CPC 2
2). Conti CPC 2
3). Conti CPC 2

And much below that,

4). Accelere(not accelere sports. You've made a mistake. No Sports available in that size).
5). BFG (if you dont care about tyre noise. This tyre is pretty good but ridiculously noisy)
5). Yoko ES 100
6). Michelin XM1+(ranks this low because the pricing is ridiculous)
7). Potenza GIII

Prices are on par with market. No need to worry about it.

Default Tyres for Santro

Finally time for an upgrade of my Santro's tyres after over four and a half years and 56,000 kms of driving on the OE Bridgestone S 322s. The tyres perfomed brilliantly, not a puncture ever.

Am planning on sticking to the Bridgestone family but am also seriously considering the Michelin XM1+ based on inputs from Nikhilb2008 and other colleagues. Thanks Nikhil

Spoke to Prakash at Super Tyre Tech and he said that since he's a wholesaler, he will not divulge details over the phone, but will gladly help out if I go to his shop. Wil check out another place close to home today as well.

I do no intend to upsize and will stick to the OEM 155/70 R13 size.

What are the best tyres for the Santro from Bridgestone. I'm looking at only tubeless tyres for the replacement.

Any indicative costs will be really helpful.

Thanks,
gpa
