Those are hot looking alloys -Great!!!
That idea of painting it white and red is really innovative, must be appearing red when in full spin.
I am sure must be looking really great in person.

Dude the alloys are good but the profile seems really low -must be a bumpy ride.

Thanks for your comments.
When in motion there is a red streak in the wheels, they do not appear totally red.

They look very unique.

It's actually185/60/R14! It only looks like a low profile in the picture, Optical Illusion due to the angle I guess.

NOTE: The tyre is not fixed to the rim, the rim is only resting on top the tyre!

Got it; your second statement above explained it.

Otherwise I was just wondering what kind of quality ride will it be offering at such low profiles that too on Indian roads; it was a relief when you explained it

The idea came from a fellow BHPian Ravveendrra. He has done a similar theme on his yellow Palio.
Thanks for your inputs.

Just one word for that "WoW!"

Now, thats some USP for the Fiat guys to market the GPs in India!
Must compliment your innovative paint scheme mate

Do share the paint method used there, and what type?
The $$ involved?

One word of advise - do hold on to your OE wheels.
Just in case when you might need them..

Here is the breakup:
Used rims = 12k
Paintjob was 4k
Balancing + Alignment + Replacing rims +weights = 1k
Total = Rs. 17000

First the silver (original) color of the rims was shaved off.
Since the rims were used, there were a few scratches on them. Filler was used for the scratches.
Then a coat of primer, and a coat of white after that.
After the white was dry, whole rim was masked exposing on the area that was to be painted red.

Paint was 2k. White shade is of the new fluidic verna and red is the same as punto's body color.

Default Fiesta : New Alloys and shoes....

Just to share some background first. The car is a 2007 Model Diesel EXI. Has done 60500 kms . The first set of tyres ( the MRF ZV2K ) ran for a full 40000 kms, traded in my stepney and bought new tyres ( same as stock tyres ) about 2 years back. Meanwhile the rear shockers had problems and kind of damaged the rear tyres with a "Heel & Toe wear pattern" now i had a dug dug dug dug sound , the frequency of which would increase with speed. Although the shockers were replaced , but the damage was already done !!!. Well that was before i was introduced to Team-BHP....

I had been just shifted to Delhi about 2 months and the car was subjected to some vandalism about 10 days back. Both rear tyres had lost air pressure while getting back home at night. A quick trip to the local puncture wala and a dip in the tub revealed about 5 holes in both tyres in the sidewall !!!!.

Result : a patch job done so i could atleast be moible for a couple of days before i could get a chance to get the tyres changed. Over all this set of tyres had run for exactly 20k kms.

A good deal of time spent on the forum and i shortlisted the Turanza ER 60 & the XM1+ , dashed down to the closest dealer this being BK in Lajpat Nagar. Finally selected the Michelin's and then just couldnt stop myself from taking a look at the alloys that were on offer.

The day ended with this.

Michelin Energy XM1+ 175/65/R14 @ Rs4500 a piece
Alloys : Extreme Racing 14" (5.5" width ) 10K for a set of 4 alloys.
Balancing / nuts / etc on the house.

I have driven these for exactly a week, and i sure am impressed

The ride quality is out of the world as compared to the MRF's and much better in terms of road noise, grip in wet roads and somehow i have a feeling the car just keeps rolling on ( meaning , on an empty flat road i get the feeling that the engine does not have to work as hard as it would have to with the old MRF's ) It seems that the XM1+ has less rolling resistance.

Enough said... I'll let the pictures do the talking now.

Thats some really good looking alloys. I am thinking whether this would look that good on my Fiesta(Platinum colour).

The Michelin's do give a fantastic ride quality, I can vouch for that. I got the stock MRF tyres changed to Michelins at the delivery itself through Ford dealer.

Thanks ghodlur.. Well the touch of black and steel finish on the spokes made me go for this design. suggest you make a trip to a good dealer in your area, and take your camera with you. Have the helpers at the dealer hold up the alloys at the wheel wells and click pics of the ones you like. With so many people on the forum and their suggestions so you should be easily able to decide which ones to go ahead with.

Cheers.
