WOW! If i were in your place, next picture would have been me fleeing the scene with the advans!!!

Rare tyres nowadays(advans).

@ Mclaren. Importing the tyres through importer(now distributor)is difficult as v1p3r said due to the new arrangement(Yokohama india),issue being the person cannot continue in dual role(importer and distributor).

BUT...if you know the person really well and are willing to invest a fair amount of money, willing to take shipping risk/delay and also have a export-import license, i have an idea.

Ask your importer to import a particular consignment in your companies name,On your EXIM number. Here you are an individual who is using your contact person's ORAL instructions to his overseas counterpart which WILL be treated with utmost confidentiality by both involved, hence your distributor(temporarily importer again) can ensure he does not cross the path of Yokohama's(india) legal section.

This is the method(i guess)through how a few consignments have left for indian shores to select few ports. Iam not sure of who is involved in this though!! But there will be a limited supply of Advans very soon i was told.

Over to the tyre guru's

O.T. Rahul, how would goodyear F1 GS2 compare with Neovas in terms of tyre life and then grip and handling?

DF, let me know what stock you might get on your hands. Might have a couple of them ready to invest in some sets.

Hari, the above mentioned is true. When I bought the tires I was told they were used for about 4k kms. I have used them for about 10k now. Add another 20 laps on track I did recently. They look like they are good to go for another 5k atleast. Do note that these tires were earlier run on a turbo baleno and the driver loves going sideways. Since they have reached me, I too have been pushing them. Both of us have been anything but kind on the tires. And if it lasts for anything over 15k kms it should last atleast 25k for people who drive normally, maybe easily much more. Grip is just not comparable, atleast not to any tire I have seen till date being sold in India. I find the grip in the wet better than dry. Though only complaints I have is the tire noise on not such smooth highways, the extremely soft compound and somehow when it aquaplains it feels scary.

Thanks akshay and rahul, I currently hace NCT5s on my optra, my santro has bridgestone s322 13incher's, which have run more than half their life now, was hoping to change my optra 14" to the santro and go in for 15" for the optra preferably neovas after what you describe of them, and note, I no way drive anything lke you guys, am just an old man content with some normal driving

my goodyear NCT5s are okay but for the tyre noise in an otherwise super silent car.

Tyre Life ??? No way !!! Grip & Handling ??? Yes way !!!. If you want to strike a balance, then get Michelins XM1s or Bridgestone Turanzas or Yokos ES-100s (I think).
