harmon, go ahead with it, no harm done with an upgrade to 16s. stick to 195 or 205 width.

Thanks Autopsyche, and it means that I dont need any suspension modification, right? Also if Iam upgrading to 16 what profile should I buy? Will 50 profile be fine?

Autopsyche please reply to my earlier message. If Iam keeping 16" what profile should I maintain and also will the ride quality be bad?

Considering stock size as 175/80-13

16" options:

1. 195/55-16
2.205/50-16 perfect upsize

Hi kpzen,

The tyre shop owner suggested that I go for a 195/50/15. According to him a 16" with 50 or 55 profile will hit the body while taking a turn or while driving on some bad roads.

Advice....

and I guess the ride quality is compartively better on a 15" he suggest which is in a way true... but bad will the ride quality be on a 16"?

Also 205/50-15 doesn't touch or scrape in a lancer ...

195/50-15 is a wrong upsize for lancer i think the dealer isn;t that knowlegable in terms of upsize

Stick to 15" as 16" isnt gonna change the look of your car much but surely will affect the ride quality..

you mean a 205/50- 16" will not scratch the body? cause you have mentioned 15" on the first line of your post.

I should go for 205 instead of a 195 right? And what is the impact of using a 195 instead of 205...

I personally haven't seen any lancer running with 205/50-16" which is a perfect upsize....but have seen n driven with 15" 205/50.....

First, u got to decide which size rims u are going for 15" or 16"
To make the size selection easier here are the options:

15"
195/60-15
205/55-15
205/50-15

16"
205/50-16

A lot of time tire shops recommend a particular size to clear up their stock, in all probability your tire shop doesnt have a 16inch tire readily available or he might not be making enough margin on it and hence the other recommendations. Kpzen has given you the right upsizes so you can follow that.

For sure !! My friend was at a shop last week and I had strictly told him not to go for anything beyond 165/60 r13 for his Zen as he will travel out of town once in a while... anyway the tyre guy was trying to convince him to go for 185 with a lower profile finally when I landed up we told him to order the 165s or no deal !

@harmon bro : what have you decided ? post your feedback here as it will be usefull

I checked with a lot of people and they recommend that I go for a

15"
205/60-15 or 205/55-15

The sizes listed above does not compromise on ride quality and its not hard on the suspension either. People have different opinion on the 16" ers. As Autopsyche suggested earlier in one of the thread that I can go for an upsize of 16" without any problem, but Autopsyche tell me more on the ride quality if Iam to stick with 16" I still dont have an answer on that ! .

s0uljah: I would probably for the 205/60-15 or 205/55-15

205/50 R15 will be a good profile.... and it makes sense to stick to 15" and not consider 16" as an option as 15" or 17" are worthwile upgrades.
