i was jus wondering, do u really get alloys and tyres in 27-30k since i went to milan subway recently and i found out prices at 2 places. i like some but all of them there started at Rs.21000 for 5 pcs. of alloys and Rs. 5000 per tyre for 15inch 205 size ones, so thats Rs.25000 for tyres. total cost goin under 50k.
i dunno y but i feel thts a lot sometimes. also they are not givin ne huge discount on them. for new set of corolla alloys and tyres full set of 5 they are only givin 8k less. thts crap i say.

actually anything wider than 145 will cause problems in a zen.
regarding 165/65r13 the front tires will touch the inside of the body while turning, and at the rear with 2 people in the back the tire will foul with the body .also 155/70r13 will touch the body on the right rear.
ALSO THE SPEEDO READING WILL CHANGE.
I THINK THE 155/65 R13 ON THE NEW WAGON R VXI WUD BE A GOOD UPGRADE.

Hey,

I got a set of 5, 14" alloys (u can see them on page 2 & 3 of this thread) for about 16k if i remember correctly. The 13" alloys were cheaper.
Check out the area that has a lot of these wheel shops near minerva cinema at grant road. And dont hesitate to try and squeeze a deal. (I feel i might have paid a tiny bit extra for my alloys.....not sure though...but it was still a decent deal)

For my tires, i exchanged the new (stock) ones for MXF sports.....cant remember the exact figure!

Hey Jesal,

Now that you put it that way...

I dont remember seeing the same style i have in the 15" version. However there were some really AWESOME looking designs in 15" so keep your eyes open! Also make sure that the offset of the alloys match the accent's offset (damn i cant remember what it is...) otherwise there will be a lot of stress on your bearings over time. Also PCD is important. Try to avoid the multi PCD wheels.
Most of the alloys (almost all) that are available in bombay are basically made in taiwan. If you are stuck between two sets dont hesitate to pick up the wheel and feel which one is lighter.
I think gettin a set of 5 15inchers for 17/18k is possible.
For the tires, maybe you will be able to get 500rs per tire or something, you will really have to try hard as these guys give like 2,000Rs or brand new tires in exchange.
5,000Rs for ultra-sport tires seems a bit high as well...... check the prices (they also change by size) with several shops on the phone. Also try and get a better price by buying the alloys and tires from the same shop.

Hey Jesal,

well when you change your tires depends more on how much of the tread is left. Basically there should be enough depth in the grooves to properly disperse water etc.
35k for the full package seems doable for 5 alloys and 4tyres i guess.
My advice is hunt for a good deal and dont be TOO picky on which alloys u get, as they will grow on you once you get them.

I had put in 175/60 R 13 Federal FD1s on Esteem 13" rims on my 2001 mpfi Zen which came with a 12" rim. After the upsize, i used to have a problem of the wheel fouling with the wheel well when:
1. doing high speeds on not so flat roads (wavy roads like the ring roads in bangalore)
2. the car had 2 adults at the back and doing 60+ on wavy roads

to fix this had to have the inside of the wheel wells tapped flat. Also, I changed the shock absorbers on the rear and put in Gypsy shocks as suggested by the folks at RAC (Sanjay & Ranjith). After that no issues till now (about 15,000km). sometimes when you take u turns the front tyres do rub against the mud flaps. but then what the heck

btw, the gypsy shocks really improved the handling.

the 155/65 r13 goodyear gt3 seems an almost perfect upsize.i have had no problems with even 3 in the rear, except the the front tire just touched the thick Sparco mudflaps on full lock of tthe steering.this has been solved by cutting of the mudflaps on the inside.
the only thing bothering is the right pressure.i have been experimenting on this .25-26 psi is wat i am having now,and it seems ok.but still am not sure.

From where did you pick up the Sparco Mud Flaps??? How good are they over the OE ones? and how much do they cost???
