Default Is 215 a BIG no for a Lancer?

I have been looking for a good set of rims for my Lancer with Yokos. Iam interested in upsizing my wheels to 15" and interested in the following combination of tyres. Iam interested in the broad looking tyres.

1. 205/55/15
2. 215/55/15

Is 215 too broad for lancer?

yes a big no. I have 195's on the SFXi alloys and they almost touch.

Even 205's touch the front at full lock and on full load at the rear they touch the wheel arch. this is the case with a few alloys.

215's will definitely foul.

THanks for the quick response VID. But I have seen many cars shodded with the 205s.

They must have installed spacers.. you can install spacers and put on 205 or 215 but then you give away the ride and handling quality.

Yes I know many cars do have them. but they are probably the same people who really dont care a hoot whether it touches or not.

I'm not saying 205 will definitely touch. It depends on the offset of the alloys.

205 will be good if you choose the correct alloys. Sam and elf both run 205's on 15" alloys take a look at their gallery. They look sweet.

Dont go for the 215's 205's will look good.

I can safely say that the 205/55R15 don't run afoul of your mudguard lining.

I, of course, very rarely have more than me in the car, and never have more than 3 people, so won't know about a fully loaded vehicle with luggage in the boot.

For me, even 215/50R15 would do. They might run afoul.

I actually was thinking of 225s even, before I got these, but my tyrewallah buddy (Lucky, not Ishan) refused to install them as he said they'd scrape.

Thanks VID, Godfather and ELF. Will keep you guys posted.

Also some comments on the RIM designs please.

I have a black lancer and here are the rims that am interested in.

BSA International Berhad >>> I love this

If I dont have any other choice then I would go for this one given below.

Unless you have an EVO powerplant, a 195 size is perfect for the Lancer (considering the power on hand). I had Goodyear F1s shod on 14 inch alloys on my Lancer and it gave it fantastic agility and more than enough grip for hard cornering.

Remember, the type of rubber (and not only width) is very important to grip.
