Ikoneer, I have A539's on Xing and they're good. Regarding on how often tyre models are changed, I think it's a matter of R&D. Nikhil should be able to highlight this issue in a better manner.

This is the A539 pattern. As for tyremodels being changed i guess it's purely a policy decision, MRF still sells thier Zigma CC pattern that was first seen in the 80's

But with 185/70 speedo error would be 2.3% instead of -0.7% with 185/65. Is that an issue i can live with??

Punto comes with stock 165/80 R14 tyres. Please check the calculation and post back.

Or am I wrong regarding the tyre size?

Well, dont worry. I know for a fact that 185/70 R14 is a beautiful fit on the Punto. Much better ground clearance and ride comfort over 185/65 R14.
