How about MXV8s? I think they are better tires than XM1+.

Does MXV8 come in 195/60-14. I think they start from 15" above. If they do then nothing like it. Otherwise I'll go for XM1+ as C.drive are also not available in the required size.

Default getz - tyre and wheels bangalore price check

Guys,
I am planning to upgrade my tyres and wheels to alloy and tubeless..I have been trying to find good shops and of course good deal.

My choice is not like this
  • NO rim Upsizing
  • price DOES matter (budget: Max 25K..stretchable in better deals)
  • Not that look Conscious
  • descent performance

Talked to to couple of guys n bangalore..these are the prices
Anil grover
Tyre: Bridgsestone G3: 3300 per Tyre (13 inch) i forgot the rest of spec :(
Alloys: HR price 17500(set of 5)
Advaith Hyundai Showroom
Tyre: Michelin: 3500
Alloy: Plati/Aura starts at 17.5k (Set of 5)
TyreZone, ORR
Tyre: bridgestone ER60 (175/70/R13) :3300
: Bridgestone G3 (185/70/R13): 3500
Alloys: Any Aura R13 - 17500!!!
: League/Plati- starts at 15k
This guy willing to take my stock tires(4 number goodyear..3x6500Km and 1x 300km) for 3000 and stock rims for 70 per piece :( in total he said he can give max of 3500 for all stock things

Guys please suggest..whether its all rip-offs?
I am newB in these. I came up with some idea going through wealth of info in this site.
Suggestion would be great. especially for my budget conscious mind
Thanks,
nagu

Those tyre prices are pretty expensive. I wouldn't pay more than 3k for a 175/70 R13 tyre.

Alloy prices sound reasonable. Also, since you seem to be looking for a VFM product, you may be better off going for Aura which is both decent in looks and comes with warranty.
You may want to try Sai Iyengar in Cambridge Layout for tyres; pretty good deals are possible with Ashwin, the owner. He can also get alloys for you.

Alloys prices are ok but look to bargain down to 15k for a set of 5.

Smile Tyre & Alloy wheel prices in Chennai for Getz 1.3 GLX

Hi guys

One of my relatives is planning to buy a Getz 1.3 GLX which comes with 14 inch OEM alloys and 175-65-14 tyres factory fitted. Upon enquiring with my usual tyre guy at Egmore, Chennai I have been given the following prices:

* 15 inch alloys - INR 21k
(Brands: Chrome Elements, K-Speed, League, Plati which are made in Malaysia, Taiwan & Thailand it seems)

* Yokohama S-Drive 205-50-15 tyres for INR 4750/- per tyre
* Yokohama ES-100 195-60-14 tyres for INR 3800/- per tyre

This relative of mine has not yet decided on the tyre/wheel upgrades but asked me for suggestions. Upon checking this thread and noting down the tyre brands / models / sizes, I enquired with my tyre shop at Egmore, Chennai and got the above prices. We had replaced our Santro XO Ltd Edn tyres (185/60/13 tubeless) and Cielo GLX tyres (195/60/13 tubeless) at the same shop so he's able to give me models & prices whenever I want even by SMS.

Are the prices quoted on the high side ? Yet to find out about the buyback for the 14 inch stock alloys and 175/65/14 tyres. Without buy back, 15 inch alloys with Yoko S-Drive 205/50/15 tyres comes to totally INR 23750 + INR 21000 = INR 44750.

Granting that we'd get 1500 bucks per stock tyre (7500) and maybe 10k for the alloys, it still comes to INR 27250.

Are these prices high ? Please do let me know.

Thanks and warm regards,
Venkat

Venkat: 195/55/R15 is the optimum 15" size for the Getz.

21k for Chrome Elements is exorbitant! 16k would sound like a Chennai price.

Actually, 205/50/15 is the size with least speedo error for getz.

Hi Guys,

I have booked a Getz CRDi very recently and I intend to change my stock tyres, but I don't wish to upgrade from the current rims. The questions are fairly straightforward (This is for the guys who own it)

1) What is the stock rim size, some say its 14 / 5J while some say its 14 / 5.5 J. I am getting confused here
2) I intend to load the stock rims with either Yokos / Michelins in 180 60/ R 14 - Will this be good enough for sedate city driving and occassional zipping on the highways at around 160 - 170 kmph (straight line)

Please help.

Thanks

1) Stock rim width is 5j.
2) Michelin XM1/ Michelin PPs/ Yoko A drive/ are your best options in 185/60-14.
Don't go beyond 185 on your stock rims.

Guru's

One more quick question. Was scouting around for prices of Tyres, I had one reputed dealer in Mumbai telling me to fir 185 65/ R 14 ... His logic is that for a diesel it will have a better cushioning even with a full load.

Stocks are also 175 65/ R 14, and was wondering if this would be good to go.

The tyre upsize chart from t-bhp does not recommend this though ?

Kindly advice

when the tyre upsize chart doe not recommend this then forget it, the chart has been carefully designed by our tyre guru's, 185/65 will foul.
