If the rims as 5.5J then you can safely mount 195's on them. Also, the prices seem to be a little on the higher side as pointed out by KP.

Sir,

I drive often in deep south TN ( kumbakonam , mayavaram etc ) where the roads are marginal at best . I need some sidewall height , will 15'' give me that factor of safety?

I dont know if the stock steel rims are 5.5 . As per anju (kencha owner) the rims are 5 . As far as the prices go , can you name any dealer you have in mind?

Experts,

what is the widest tires that can be fitted in 5.5/14'' alloys ? Should I even go for the widest ones or is it an overkill?

195s can be mounted on 5.5j rims with no issues. Elantra has the same wheel combo in 15".
Regarding the dealers, u can go to Sai Iyengar and Hercules tyres in Bangalore. In Chennai i think some annas down there like Nitrous and Honourable Esteem lover can surely help u...

What are the stock tires of the Getz? If its 175mm then i think the rim width is 5.5J and you can mount 195mm tires.

Getz GLS petrol 175/70-13 5J rims
Getz CRDi 175/65-14 on 5.5J rims.

you can speak to ramie2400 about the ride. he says it has gone up. though if the roads are terrible then stick to 195/60 r14.

. honestly. read his posts. with s-drives on 195/50 r15 he says its gone up. how? ask him. with 130bhp on tap i think the s-drives would be a better option.

then here is my plan of action;

if the stock steel rims are 5.5 then go to 195 and save the money for petes. If not have to pay up for alloys 5.5 size and get 195 .

The dealer told me that 195s cannot be mounted on stock rims. I hope he is not correct

Any views on Goodyear DucaroGAs? The tire looks simple and elegant. Supposed to have some bubble blade technology. But the rubber does not seem as pliable as the XM1s when I touch it.

thanks. i just read some reviews on an australian website. it was horrible.

i was initially interested due to the pricing. 1000 rs lesser than xm1s. price quoted was 3000 for goodyear and 3990 for xm1 .

my mistake
