YA i had seen this model with the dealer. same model comes in 12". if i put 13" then it means i have to face leakage problems in 5.5j width.
now i am totally confused with the implications that 5.5j will cause.

I was quoted Rs. 9800 with bill for 4 Platis M6 replica

Amit if u go for 5.5j it will scrap. But i was told by the dealer that 13" plati M6 comes in 5J.

Speedzak got 5.5J on his alto (now totalled) PM him.

Here is the pic of his alloys. They are HR.

i think i have to take a risk of putting 5.5 J. i dont know dealer is forcing me to put 12" plati. is it so that he doesnt want me to bug him with the issues that will arise from putting 13" 5.5 J?
will it affect my suspensions and steering?

he is forcing you so that he can make more profit. 12" and 13" alloys will cost same and there is also no difference in tyres costs too.

AFAIK suspension / steering wont get affected it will just be a bit heavier.

thanks a lot ashutosh. now i am really confused. shall i wait for more options and designs in 13" 5.5 J. the dealer was saying that many will launch in 5j as altos, estilos, zens, santros etc all prefer 5j

Could you please explain why Roy? I am considering 155/70R13 myself. And the wheel is bigger than OE by less than 2% which is acceptable I assume. But the tyre dealers are advicing 65 without any explanation. If the 70 would scrape the wheel well, could I avoid it with a 5mm spacer?

Simply because there is hardly any error !! but performance and handling impoves a great deal.

Hi Amit, was able to get a shaky picture of the Alto 1.1 steering system, so thought I'd revisit this thread. The picture is of the Alto's steering rack (this is the one without the power steering). Sorry about the quality of the picture, the circled parts are numbered 12, 13, & 14. Their descriptions are as follows:
12 - SCREW, RACK DAMPER
13 - NUT, DAMPER SCREW
14 - CAP
The damper's on the steering rack itself. On the Alto it's usually tight, making parking-lot maneuvering pretty painful. You can have your regular after-sales-service guys loosen this a tad & see if you like it

thanks a lot! u have punched in at the perfect time. since lat couple of weeks i was finding the alto steering too tight. its very difficult for parking or city maneuvering too. will it have any other consequences if i loosen the damper screw??
