Good choice with the tyres! Do they foul with the arches when there are 2 or more people sitting in the back seat?

And what rims are you running these on? Stock steel or after market alloys?

I think his tyres are realtively lower profile and as such will not certainly foul with the arches. Good choice shreyasma, but be wary that your speedo will be showing a little lesser speed & your odo a little lesser distance than actually travelled.

Thank you for all your replies guys.

I actually wanted 195/55. But there will be a problem with turning as the tyres may touch the mudguard.

The dealer quoted Rs 2950 for each tyre + Weights charge during wheel balancing

Later he gave a discount of Rs 350 on each tyre and free wheel balancing
I ended up paying Rs 2600 for each tyre.

He gave the discount as all tyres on my friends's safari and sierra were replaced with me.

Do you feel the price is okay?

No issues with the arches with 5 people seated.

I am running stock steel rims

185 wont foul, had it in my friends car for long. Good choice upgrading, stock tyres are a weak point for esteem.

A perfect upsize for the Esteem. The new range of Apollos are quite good. Hows the comfort level?

How's that a perfect upsize with (-)4% difference in circumference and 185 tyres on 4.5j rims...

Shreyasma
I wonder how you are taking your esteem over speed breakers with GC lesser than a stock esteem.

KP is right about the upsize being wrong. Two things, the rolling dia is reduced and the stock Esteem rims are 4.5j and will not work well with 185s. I think Shreyasma needs to upgrade to alloys which are 5j or 5.5j if he wants to stay on 185s.

PS: 175/70/13 is the best upsize for an Esteem on Stock Rims.

Thats right, 175/70/13 is the closest you can get to the stock size for an esteem. Even this is 9mm lower than the stock tyres.

The comfort level is real good at tyre pressure at 28 i usually keep the pressure at 30 to compensate the ground clearance. With pressure at 30, the ride is like stock esteem.

I have noticed that even with 5 people in the car, there is not much problem with the ground clearance with stock size and up size tyres.

And I dont have plans of alloys for the esteem.

hi guys,
i am using a 2001 mpfi esteem vx
i have decided to change the tyres and am upgrading from 155/80R13 to 175/70R13 on the stock rims
my requirement is a tyre that provides good comfort, decent handling and grip and will last for atleast 30-40000 kms
i have read the reviews about people saying Bridgestone Potenza G-III's are the best for grip but am not keen on getting performance tyres as they don't last much
thus i have shortlisted the michelin XM1+,yokohama (don't know the model number : can you tell me), and bridgestone s322 and turanza ER-60 out of which all except S322 are tubeless tyres.
when i spoke to the tyre shop person he said that theres no point putting tubeless tyres on stock rims as it gives problems later on and for stock rims tube tyres are best which leaves me with the only option of S322
i have not read much about S322 and thus am not too sure about it
i am in a fix right now as to what should i do : go for tube or tubeless ? if tube ones then is S322 that good as per my requirements and if tubeless then which one to go for.
friends please help me
thanks
Jigar
