ok I just had a look at my car(@ the dealers showroom) and returned. I faced some serious issued there. Right from the sales manager, executives till the service engineer was against the proposal of upsizing to 14 inches (185/60 R13). They were saying it will scrap the inside at the rear as well as the front.

SO friends please tell me what is the stock rim size of the ikon is it 5 or 5.5 and also if i go for 14 inch alloys from ford what is the size of the 14 inch alloys available for fiesta is it 5.5 or 6...?

All this has scared the crap out of me

@mail4loys

thanks bro i just sent the guy a PM I hope he replies back soon.

ok I went again and personally measured the space available between the tyres and interiors in the front I had around 2 inches spare and rear I had around 1.5 inches spare.
I should that to them. One should have seen their faces.. lol

so I guess I'll be upsizing to 14 inch Ford Alloy wheels(that of fiesta) aand putting on 185/60 R14 Michellin XM1+

@Agent009, just to make sure : try & check the space available with the wheels fully turned. Do it for both wheels. But good work there ... a simple way to check things by yourself instead of depending on what you were told.

I had used the same method before I decided on 185's. Took photos to check the space (I use a phone cam extensively)

The 185's will add 5mm on the inside and 5 mm on the outside. So if you you saw 2 inches of space between the tyre & interiors, then using 185's will reduce this gap to approx 5cm - 5mm = 4.5 cm. Comfortable amount of space, isnt it ?

Aura or Neowheels which one shall i go for...
Need help with the following
1) which size 14 inch 5.5J or 6J will 6 J fit in ikon
2)what should be the offset for the alloys. Neowheels have 32mm offset so will it fit properly with my 185/60 R14 +14inch 6J or 5.5J combo

Aura's may not be available now, because they have stopped production.

1. Find a friend who has a Fiesta and send his car for the alloys
2. Try in Tata dealerships - the PCD for Indigo & Ikon is the same.
3. Look around for Aura' - get a set of 5
4. Check out Apollo's alloys.
5. Check out Neo's ..

Dont lose heart, you'll get something you will like !

just got in touch with local dealers they have 14 inch x 6J alloys and not 5.5J

the neowheel alloys come in 14" x 6J size and not 5.5J size and have a 32mm offset.

So friends please tell me if 14" x 6J size with 32mm offset will fit in an IKON TDCI without any trouble..???

Default Tyres for Ikon 1.6

Fellow BHPian's,

Need help in buying Tyres for my Ikon 1.6.

I bought the Car used and it is closing in on 50k and the tyres have worn out and needs replacement.

I am planning to upsize to 14" since Ikon OEM tyres are 13".

I was thinking about upsizing to 185/60-14, Michelin as per the info on the threads here but when I spoke to the guy at Sai Iyengar he said that it is not advisable to do so and suggested 175/65/14. He also quoted 3.8k per tyre.

I need to get all 5 and I am looking for 14" Steel rims as well. Any idea how much would it cost, and where to get it from? I am looking for a durable and dependable tyre with a Ladakh plan too in mind.

Now eagerly waiting for some advice

Go grease some some guys at ford or some tyre shop and ask them to ring you when a ford fiesta comes for a alloy job. Then you swap all those 5 new tyres with rims to your ikon 1.6, and that should be a deal.

13" stock 175/75
14" upgrade 175/65 thats the stock size of fiesta too.

need some more performance, get 185/60 on Ikon nxt or fiesta rims.
