Default Which tyre ideal for a trip to Ladakh? (for a Logan)

Friends,
I know this isn't a normal question anybody asks! I am planning to head to Ladakh in my Logan this July. Right now I have 205/55 R15 S.Drives.. and I know that the low profile has made a lot of difference in the ride. My car's suspension (and us) will take a severe beating on the trip.

I have three options:

1) Sell off the S.Drives, keep my alloy wheels, buy 195/60 R15s.
Which tyre.. you suggest.

2) Sell off the S.Drives and the alloy wheels. Buy new 14" alloy wheels and tyres of either 185/70 R14 or 195/65 R14 or 205/60 R14. Which tyre.. you suggest.

3) Buy 14" stock rims (new/used) and new tyres of stock size 185/70 R14. Which tyre.. you suggest. Will not sell my 15" rims and tyres. Once I am back from the trip, I will keep them as spare.

Out of 100, I am looking for 60 ride and 40 handling i.e. slightly more tilted towards ride.

I know 70 profile will be the best in this case. But even before the plan of the trip came up, I was thinking that once the life of S.Drives are over, I will buy 195/60 R15s. So, you suggest.. is the 195/60 R15 the best choice here?

I say stick to option 3 - buy a set of 5 stock rims ( should cost ~5k) and a set of 5 indian tyres , the ones with hard compound - JK/MRF/Apollo amazer etc - they should tale a lot of abuse. But dont expect the same grip though!

This is the option you gotta stick with. Stock rims will be cheap. I'd never buy them otherwise, but JK tyres seems to be well-suited to your purpose. I've seen them on some family cars and the damn (hard) rubber can take a phenomenal amount of abuse. Amongst the imports, it's the Bridgestone S322 that comes closest.

IMO 3rd option would be the best.

Logan and Swift Zxi comes with 185/70-14 JK Vectras. So finding a used set of tires shouldn't be a problem.

Those 185/70 R14 JK Vectras are still too soft if you ask me. Go for JK Tornados or MRF ZVTs/ZSLK whatever. Also, carry a couple of extra tubes with you.

Also a tubeless puncture kit and an air pump.

I would say go for tubed tyres and MRF ZVTS if available in that size in the tubed variant! Totally hard and up for this kind of a trip!
Keep it as simple as possible and like everyone said the 3rd option
Stock Rims Option 3!

+1 to GTO about the S322's - I'm running them - they seem to take all the abuse I've thrown at them, not a single puncture yet, and no sign of the tyre dying any time soon at 22000k
