Default WagonR Footwear upgraded to Plati Alloys + Michelins

Recently upgraded the wagonR's stock disc's to alloy rims and found the brake calipers rusted. As we are spending enough for a disc upgrade, thought why cant we do the process in total?

As a result, I have painted the brake calipers black and the disk brake calipers "Chrome". A lots of friends asked me how can we paint chrome?

So for all my friends, I am posting the pics of my WagonR's Brake calipers.. Please let me know your suggestions and please ping me for any advices...

Picture 1. The alloy rims as such.
Picture 2. The front "chromed" disk calipers.
Picture 3. The rear brake calipers.

Default WagonR Footwear upgraded to Plati Alloys + Michelins

Hi Guys,

I have recently upgraded the footwear's of my 2008 model WagonR VXI. The up-gradation was like this;

Before Upgrade
1.Stock Black painted 5inch disk
2.Stock JK tornado 155/65 R13 tube type tyres

After Upgrade
1. Plati 5.5inch R13 Alloy Rims
2. Michelin XM1+ 155/65 R13 tubeless tyres
3. Filled the tyres with nitrogen.

I have tries running the stock tyres (tube type) on the new alloys and since was not able to enjoy it in full, within a week upgraded the tyres to tubeless

Please find the up-gradation photos and details;

Tyres and Rims removed for mounting new tyres.

Looks pretty good Dude, way to go.

Personally, feel you should have gone for wider rubber, somthing like 175/60..you would have known the difference Instantaneously, both with Looks and Handeling!!

That looks nice.

How about also mentioning what you paid?
For the tires and alloys?

I went through almost all the threads available in forum regarding tyre up-gradations, but one or the other is having issues reports, so atlast go settled down with the stock tyre size itself.

The next size considered is 165/65. 165/60, 175/60 and all is low profile tyres with less side wall (height from floor), so comfort may differ.

Plati 5.5inch R13 hyper Silver 5 pcs = Rs.14500 (incl 16 chrome nuts,fitment and bill)
Michelin XM1+ 155/65 Tubeless 5 pcs = Rs.13125 (incl of fitment, balancing, nitrogen fill and tax)

The Rims are with 13inch diameter and 5.5inch width. Stock wagonR have 13inch diamenter + 4.5inch or 5 inch wider stock disc.

My bad communication, sorry. What I intended to ask is, will the 155/65 tires sufficient for that additional .5" alloy wheels?

In the Michelin.in site, they mentioned that the 155/65 R13 will support up to 5.5 inch wider Rims.

So It made me easy to go ahead.

Lightening - Thanks so much for sharing this info. I'll stick to stock of 165/55 next time when I upgrade. However I'll try sticking with steel rims but opt to see the possibility of Nitrogen.

@ the lightening: Looks very nice. I had the XM1+ 165/65 R13 on my vehicle (filled with nitrogen) . Ride comfort and grip were simply great. From which dealer You purchased the alloys and tyres? Post some more pics please .

Guys one more advice needed, Once all the rims have upgraded to alloys , I am not able to lock the spare wheel in the boot with the company provided provision. When even I am crossing bumps and pothholes, the spare wheel is jumping too ,which is really irritating.

Guys any alternatives to lock the spare wheels to the boot?
