Default Esteem tyre in Baleno ??

Hi guys,

I am undertaking a trip this weekend of about 1000 km. The stock tyres (165/70/13) in my Baleno are beginning to show age (they have clocked 50k). I was just wondering if its ok if I put my relatively newer Esteem's (175/70/13) tyres (done only 17k) for the trip ? I know it is not exactly the correct size but I just want to ride on better tyres on the highway for safety.

After going through the tyre calculators I found that the speedometer diff. will be about 2.5%. That is fine with me. I'll change the tyres back as soon as I get back but just wanted to know if they are ok with stability, comfort etc.

The stock Baleno tyres are 165/80 R13. 175/70 R13 is really a wrong size, but as you want to use it only for the trip, it should be fine.

But the GC will go down and you might scrape some big speed humps. Be careful.

Since the baleno tires are already at its end of life, why don't you get a new set and do the trip ? Either ways you gotto spend money to get a new set for the baleno.

Last week I got all the 4 tires of my Baleno changed to Yoko EOS 100 and i had to spend exactly Rs.15K for the tires only, allignment and nitrogen filling extra. The new tire size is 195/60 R14 and earlier it was 185/65 R14. Even with the R14 I have ground clearance issues (Don't have much issues with the new set).

Now a quick question - What should be the tire pressure that I should maintain with the new set of tires? Its written on the car that the tire pressure should be 25 psi for 185/65 R14. I am maintaining a tire pressure of 28psi on the new set (195/60 R14). I don't drive too fast (mostly below 80kmph and peak once in while to a max. of 110 kmph).

I am still unaware of the benefits of nitrogen filling, though I have filled it in all my tires.

I think 30 PSI is recommended for that size. I had run my baleno with the same size and had filled in 30psi. Never had any issues, however this was only for a single trip.

I had 2 sets of tires for my baleno and with the 15 inchers I used to run it with 32PSI for all four.
