That's not true at all. Using this size for the last 40K kms (Continental CPC).

You will take a hit on fuel efficiency (1-2 km/l). I compensated that with a Race dynamic box which gives me more fuel efficiency than stock in the eco mode.

But I can say this - my 205s are super grippy. Had very rare ABS kick-ins after I installed them. They stop very well and I have a feeling of security at higher speeds.

you know all of these are conflicting demands FE vs enthusiastic, comfort vs longevity.

Thanks dark.knight for the input.

My Vento got her new shoes early this week. Michelin XM2 (195/60/R15).

I have just done city drives this week and I must say, the ride quality has considerably improved.

Hope highway drives will be more exciting.

Thanks for your inputs Nileshch.

Off topic: With RD box, do you ever drive in eco mode?! This is in my future budget plan, but, is there conclusive evidence that FE is better (other than in eco modes?)

Indeed, bad question to start with regarding FE vs enthusiastic drives. Considering all factors, seems like Mischelin XM2 or Yoko Earth are not bad choices (ruled out P3ST since road noise is not top priority). XM2's priced higher and more premium ? where as, Earth 1 is probably more long lasting ?

Since, I tend to drive on good roads, stretching a bit for XM2's, they should also last long I guess. I hope i will not loose out much on cornering ability.

Also, can I compare XM2 with Yoko AvS DB or they are different category of tyres altogether?

Will give a quick answer here - I drive in eco mode in city all the time. On highways for the most time except when there is moderate traffic (and the need to overtake is more frequent). I have conclusive anecdotal evidence of better FE in all modes except P2

I am not much of a help with the other brands as I have never tried them!

Hi DevSoms,

Were you able to finalise alloy wheels. I saw an advertisement (olx) for Polo OEM alloys(set of 4) for 18k. How much is the quote from tyre dealer for OEM VW alloys.

Regards.

Hi DevSoms,

That's a very good deal on OEM alloys. I am happy with the steel rim but may upgrade in couple of years along with tyres.

While scouting for alloys did you find new polo 16" alloys or Vento 15" alloys. I was planing to upgrade 14" steel spare with 15" steel wheel and tyres but price of steel rim (around 4k) at VW dealer was a deal breaker. I also checked with couple of tyre dealers but did not get positive response.

Please post some more pictures of Vento TSI Comfortline since we have very few on the forum.

Regards.

Need to change the stock Apollo Alnac 185/60. I've been happy with them but lately they're too noisy. 49k done.
Priorities: Grip, comfort and reliability.

Looking at 185/60 and 195/60. Couldn't convince my dad for 205/55.

The car is driven rather carefully over potholes and speed breakers usually. Unless they're out of our sight. Cruising speeds range between 100-130kmph and maybe over that occasionally. Hilly roads are usually devoured. Let's not forget fuel economy

185/60-
Michelin XM2 energy,
Continental CC5,
Apollo Alnacs( if nothing works out)

195/60-
Michelin P3ST,
Continental CPC2,MC5, ( what's the difference between them)
Apollo Alnac 4G/ 4GS,
Falken Sincera( dad's getting 50% discount but I haven't heard anything about them)
Yoko S drives

Since the sidewall height increases by 6mm with the 195s , will it improve or reduce handling? What about body roll? Will it increase? And by how much?

And besides,I love accelerating hard into corners.
